Mommy insisted that we needed to get this done. She said something about, just in case I get lost she'll be able to find me. Lost? Why would I ever get lost? I don't want to get lost! I'm so glad I'm here with my brother, Natsu! Maybe he understands what she's talking about. #microchipyourdogs#24petwatch@salamandershibe

Did you know that November is Pet Diabetes Month? Although no one wants to think about their beloved pet getting sick, knowing the warning signs can help you catch it early and prevent further complications:
- Excessive thirst
- Excessive urination
- Excessive hunger while losing weight
- Cloudy eyes (dogs)
- Doesn’t groom (cats)
- Thinning, dry, and dull hair
This week is National Animal Shelter Week, and we'd like to send a huge shout out to the dedicated vet techs, vets, animal care attendants, admin staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to give pets in need a second chance! 🐾
Happy Halloween to you and your furry family members! Keep these tips in mind to keep your pets safe tonight:
🦇 As always, make sure your pet has updated ID tags and microchip information in case they slip out during all the excitement
🦇 All pets are much safer indoors. From late afternoon through to the morning after Halloween, don’t leave cats or dogs outside even if they are usually outdoor pets
🦇 Keep an extra eye out for items they can accidentally ingest. Anything from loose candy to decorations to pieces of costume can pose a risk
🦇 Take a close look at decorations to make sure they don't pose a choking hazard, like string lights & spider webs
PS - if you haven't entered your pet's pic into the #PetsGetSpooky contest yet, you have until 11:59 PM EST to be eligible to win!

Need some tips for taking great pet pics?
1. Get outside or by a window, nothing beats natural light ☀️
2. Treats, toys and praise can help you grab their attention ⚽
3. Focus on their features. The eyes, nose and mouth are the most expressive part of your pet's face 🐶
Halloween can be a scary time for your pets! With the doorbell ringing, kids shouting and the door repeatedly opening, it's a day when sadly more pets go missing.
Before the big day arrives, be sure to double check your pet's ID tag and microchip to make sure your contact info is up to date on your mypethealth.com account. If you know your pet is easily scared, consider putting them in a bedroom with the door closed during trick-or-treating hours to keep them safe.
PS - you can also purchase a Lifetime Protection Membership at 15% off until Oct 31st, 7 PM EST. Use promo code HAUNTCAN19 (Canada) or HAUNTUS19 (US)!
Try out these homemade peanut butter treats to get your pup doing his happy dance this Friday! 🥜

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1/2 cup nonfat dry milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup peanut butter, crunchy or plain*
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon cold water, enough to make a slightly sticky dough
*Make sure you check your peanut butter for the ingredient Xylitol – which is NOT doggie friendly!
Has your mischievous pet ever eaten something they shouldn't? Whether getting into the garbage, counter surfing, or eating an unknown substance while out on a walk, it can be a scary experience! Whatever the case may be, stay calm and act fast:
1. 📚 Brush up on your knowledge of toxic foods so that you can do your best to prevent emergencies before they happen!
2. 💊 Don't try to play doctor. Keep human medicines out of your pet's reach and only give your pet medications prescribed by their veterinarian.
3. ⚕️ If you know or suspect that your pet has ingested something poisonous, seek professional veterinary care immediately.
4. ☎️ Keep the phone number for your local after hours emergency clinic and pet poison hotline handy so you can reach out for help quickly.
We're just a couple weeks away from Halloween, do you have your costumes ready?! If your pet loves dressing up, post their picture for your chance to win a 3 month subscription for a Bark Box or KitNip box! To be eligible to win, tag us @24petwatch and use the hashtag #PetsGetSpooky ! 👻
This really great idea brought to you by my nana! If your pet is microchipped, put them in as a contact in your phone, along with the company’s phone number and microchip ID number so if they ever get out, you can quickly call the company and have all the necessary information right at hand. You also have a photo handy if you start scouring the neighborhood to show people so they can keep an eye out!

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is heartbreaking.
Here are a few ways to help keep their memory alive and commemorate the love you shared:
1. Make a cast of your pet's paw print as a memento. There are special kits at your local craft store that will allow you to do this at home.
2. Keep their ID tag on your key ring to provide a daily reminder of your bond.
3. Get a custom pet portrait of a special photo. Ask a friend or local artist to make a piece of art that you can cherish in your home.
