My favourite phrase of 2019 that has been used by me or someone else at the most pivotal moments; “fuck it”. Sums up my year a bit actually, hopefully 2020 will continue this trajectory but in a bigger way.

Polaroid magic. Carl gave me an SX-70 Land camera for my birthday this year, and it takes the most amazing photos. I’m still figuring out how to optimize the settings for different conditions, but it’s been the most satisfying process. | When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. drifting + discovering | Nothing is less real than realism. Details are confusing. It is only by selection, by elimination, by emphasis, that we get at the real meaning of things. Georgia O’Keeffe. | 35mm expired @kodak + 1951 @kodak signet 35

if you had to choose... sunrises or sunsets? + I used to wake up real gosh darn early to catch the sun coming up. these days that doesn’t happen, because my dreams are too interesting and my body just won’t do it. this shot is the product of my very first sunrise film session, so it’s been sitting in my archives for years. somehow I’ve never shared it here before. this photo was featured on @vsco (I love you VSCO) a few weeks ago, which has helped remind me to not second guess my work so much. sometimes photos surprise us, and this one definitely still surprises me. | 35mm @psychedelic_blues_film + 1951 @kodak signet 35
