When I say there is NO state like WV, I mean it! Last night two county high school teams/towns etc witnessed something so tragic during a football game...a mother and father lost their son, teammates lost a brother and friends saw someone they loved collapse on the sidelines and ended up losing his life that night due to an unexpected heart issue...in the wake of this tragedy WV brothers and sisters have done what we always do...I have seen multiple posts about donations to this young man’s family and finding ways to help honor him...in our community of Berkeley springs this morning I got a phone call from a family member of someone who lost a loved one to heart issues recently and they are purchasing and donating an AED machine for BSHS football/soccer/baseball field...and bshs football players will be sporting stickers with the young man’s initials and # on their helmets as soon as we can get them in with another member of our community already messaging me to ask to pay for them! I love our state! I hate that things like this happen but the way we back one another is truly a testament! Continued prayer for the Miller family and Roane County... #55strong *if anyone can think of something else we can do as a community for this young man’s family let’s do it!

Paglipas ng isang buwan, darating din sa magandang daan,
Ang daan para sa kinabukasan ng bayan.
The UERM Community is one with the dream of Batch 2018. With the light at the end of the long and challenging tunnel in plain sight, we walk with our board takers and wish them the best of luck and faith for this September 7, 8, 14, and 15.
This is me one year ago. I was so hopeful for the new school year. Little did I know. The year passed in a blur of overwhelming sadness that I'm just now washing off. The woman in this picture didn't realize that year 18 without her babies would be so hard, she didn't know that she'd lose a young man whom she saw as another brother (God, give my Dakota a huge hug), that she'd lose a former student she adored (God, let Lilo know he was right, he's unforgettable) or that she'd lose part of herself (God, thanks for holding me when I couldn't do it for myself).
If you see yourself in this woman, love her/him; if you see others, love them. Life is hard and many hide it with a smile--look deeper and remember to be kind. #handlewithcare#angelmom#55strong#teachertruths #depression

There once was a Union maid, and she never was afraid. I'm so thankful for my #55strong peeps. Without solidarity, life is lonely and devestating. Together, we will be ready for another amazing year in our classrooms and schools! Let's get it! #wvea#unionproud#fightforourstudents

In this month's paper: Pittsburgh member Zach P writes about WV state recent passage of retaliatory legislation to privatize education after teachers' historic 2018 strike. By attacking the #55Strong who had launched the national #RedForEd movement with last year's historic strike, the ruling class aims to deal a devastating blow to a re-awakening labor movement before it can pose a serious risk to the power of capital. What is urgently needed is an offensive push by the teachers to widen the struggle, and for all workers and students to stand in solidarity with the WV educators: for public education, fair pay, affordable housing, healthcare for all, and more! ✊🏼 Link to article in profile! >>>

This is Jay O'Neal, one of the 20,000 teachers and 13,000 school staffers who have been on strike in West Virginia demanding higher wages and better healthcare. Jay says years of low pay and cuts to public employee health insurance plans preceded the strike. "I think people have just had enough, and they’ve decided they’re not listening to us when we try to lobby, when we try to call, and so we’ve got to do something big. We’ve got to walk out to get them to listen." Schools across West Virginia were closed for a ninth day today. Follow all of our coverage of the historic strike in West Virginia and labor actions from the U.K. to Argentina on this week's shows. #labor#westvirginia#55strong#wvteachers#strike

As an Arizona teacher I’ve watched many leave their dream job to pursue other careers so they can pay the bills. I watch my own colleagues work 2-3 additional jobs to make ends meet and provide for their families. Lack of adequate pay and support is what led me to pursue TpT part time so that I could have a little extra to put away in case of emergencies which I have had to use. 4 states with one purpose. Respect us! Give us what we deserve. Give our students more! Allow teachers to focus on their ONE dream job and do their best each and every day without being tired, and worn out for their students! #onepurpose#redfored#oklaed#55strong#120strong#teachersdeservemore#teachers#teachersofinstagram#teachersfollowteachers
