Latest acquisitions within that last week and half.
From Left to Right.
1. Athol 624 1/2 - will become my daily user and long term project. It is in need of a new handle due to the meatball hole being enlarged, has a broken swivel lock which I will attempt to recreate, and the previous owner decided to create his own teeth on the hardened jaws, so I will eventually mill out the current jaws and substitute some aluminum smooth jaws.
2. 1971 Wilton Bullet 4” - needs one swivel lock and end cap, will end up cleaning and saving as much of the original paint on it as possible.
This is my grandmother, Jo-Ann. My kids knew her as TOKI. We lost her to cancer on Mother’s Day 2015. She is the reason I became SO passionate about herbal medicine. 6 months before she passed she was a healthy, vibrant and vivacious 83 year old woman who we all thought would outlive us all. We watched her decline so quickly and her last weeks were sheer torture for us all, her included. As I’ve watched helplessly as many of the residents and their families at the nursing home where I currently work as a cook have struggled through their final days, the pull towards my desire to work with nursing and hospice patients as an herbalist and aromatherapist has been getting stronger and stronger. I feel it is the path I’m supposed to take, to help these people and their families during this difficult transition either into a nursing hone or help to ease the pain and anxiety and improve the quality of life for those patients on hospice and their families. These are both often stressful and difficult transitions. I ask that if anybody knows of any nursing or hospice facilities, or home hospice families that would be interested in offering or using this kind of service to please contact me with whom I should contact or pass my contact on to them. 💜💚 #aromatherapy#herbalism#aromatherapyforelderly#hospicecare#hospice#nursinghome#holisticnursingcare#holistichospice#athol#massachusetts#newhampshire#vermont

This layout still makes me laugh. When I was a local newspaper reporter in the early 2000s, a nearby paper called the Athol Daily News ran this front page, apparently unaware of how much they made it appear as if the award-winning kid was the one arrested in New York. (To be clear, they’re totally separate stories.) May it be a lesson to us all: Whenever you make something, ask someone with fresh eyes to take a look at it. They’ll see things you won’t. #localnews#athol#jasonfeifer
