Today we decided to hike at Cheddar Gorge, the weather was bit hit and miss but it was looking OK so we headed up the Gorge As we reached the highest viewpoint the grey clouds quickly came in but it didn't look too bad. We started to walk to the edge to get the best view which is breathtaking as there is a sheer 200ft drop down. It was just as were close to the edge that the winds very suddenly picked up making it very difficult to stand. Luckily it was blowing us away from the edge or I don't think we would be here to tell the tale.Rich was very close to the edge at the time and I fully expected to look up and he'd be gone. I sat for a minute waiting for it to pass but it became apparent that it wasn't passing and it wasn't safe to stay where we were so I started to crawl along the ground away from the edge. I found a brief area of safety by a fence post that I clung onto then the weather got worse with sleet and hail stones also battering us along with wind speeds that were difficult to stand up in. We knew we had to get to safety as quickly as possible. Using the fence as a safety rail to cling to we slowly made our way back to the footpath and safety of the woodland. Within about 10 minutes the wind had died down and the sun started to come out, what a massive relief to know that the immediate danger was gone and we would have least have a safe journey back down despite being soaked through. Lesson learnt, the weather can change in the Blink of an eye, very thankful that we made it out of the situation together. Luckily I had already tied the dog to me before the wind started as I didn't want her accidentally going over the edge, it was a lifeline that I'm sure saved her life as well. @largeround#cheddar#cheddargorge#weather#hike#hikersuk#westcountryweather#somerset#british#westcountry#winter#igers#igerssomerset#landscape#adventure#dogsofinstagram#dog#wind#gate#woodland#mud#puddle#rocks
Thank you to everybody that ventured out through the rain and passed the overturned milk tanker to the Ashbourne Late Night Shopping on Friday night, it was good to see you. We enjoyed meeting people, talking about Mountain Rescue and collecting donations.
A special thanks to @thecheddargorge for keeping the team topped up with refreshments!
An unexpected hockey match this morning followed by a walk at Cheddar Gorge this afternoon with @tommack2! Making the most of time together by going on a mini adventure, always forget whats right on our doorstep .
I found lots of good #dollphoto#locations (higher level foreground, rising level in-scale background) in #cheddargorge , but I was too cold /embarrassed to get my dolls out 🤭 too many families walking up the road....so I just snapped some quick ones on the path 😊 #gorgebears is good for doll-tat/toys too 😄
So, couldn’t think of a town or village beginning with X either in the @netherlands.official or the @unitedkingdomofengland, 🇬🇧So had to think pretty hard of a town that had the letter ‘X’ involved in its name... close to the Cheddar Gorge and NO... this gorge is not made out of cheese 🧀 as you would hope, in fact is made entirely out of limestone that was once formed about 1.2 million years ago! What about the charming market town of Axbridge? This place has some fascinating links from the Viking 🗡 ages and was once part of the Saxon defence system. Did you know that the name of this market town was once called ‘Axanbycg’ in the 9th Century and has been around since King 👑 Alfred’s Time? 🕰It seems to have a character of its own... Since I’ve realised the Importance and impact of personal peace, I make myself scarce to the things that exhaust me or impact my peace. The best gift I ever gave myself was to meditate and to honour personal growth in forms of exercise reading, journaling and nurturing my mind with theories that expanded my mindset. I love socialising but to be honest I don’t believe in chasing success, contacts or people. I believe in spending my time becoming the person I need to be to attract the right audience, friends and opportunities. •
Super chuffed to have sent my project yesterday in the Cheddar Gorge! I first tried ‘Playboys’ (7b+) two days earlier, gave it a couple of goes but found it pretty nails, and really didn’t expect to send anytime soon. To be fair, it was pretty exciting to have a project again. Two days later it went on the second go. Did not expect it at all! Can’t describe how awesome it feels to be on rock again, after pretty much 2 years of climbing mainly indoors. And now, off to France, psyche is high!
Cheers for the 📷 and belay @stefano.debbo and for constant psyche and recommendations @anotherdayattheoffice .

Brilliant capture from Cheddar by @p.stockall
[AD] If you know me well, you know I love a road trip. Driving through the grandeur of Cheddar Gorge was a stark reminder that the journey is often more important than the destination. It was a pleasure to tackle the British countryside in the comfort of the @CUPRA_UK Ateca; high performance and innovative design all wrapped up in this very unique SUV 🇬🇧 #CUPRA#CreateThePath#CheddarGorge
