We all wear masks, some with make up, some with smiles, some wives or husbands, cars or close, we hide from the world, and from ourselves, we hide from our truth behind our eyes, running always from our real, but somewhere there, were truth meets courage, we are waiting to be found, waiting to stand to the world, masks down and say loudly and boldly, this is us, this is our true, this is everything real about me, and when that day comes, if it is true, we will begin our lives again, the way they were intended. In your own time, when you are ready, if ever it be, decided to close the book or turn the page. Either is a ver brave thing. I choose to turn the page.🖤

Taking in the view from an isolated vantage point usually reserved for the local wildlife.
This #PrairieRattlesnake , a species of #viper , was found in the foothills of the #RockyMountains in #Colorado .
This species of #rattlesnake is common in the Midwestern #USA , with a range extending from SW #Canada to NW #Mexico .
As with all vipers, they are #venomous#snakes with highly specialized fangs which are attached to the roof of the mouth via hinges that allow the fangs to swing out of the mouth. The fangs are hollow, similar to hypodermic needles, and they deliver a toxic cocktail of hemotoxic and myotoxic compounds, which cause hemorrhaging, necrosis, and coagulation of the blood.
This venom is necessary for their means of acquiring prey. They are ambush predators, which sit and wait for prey to get within striking distance, rather than actively chasing prey down. They primarily prey on endothermic (=“warm blooded”) #animals , such as small #mammals . Their eyesight is relatively poor, and they rely more heavily on their sense of heat than they do on vision. Between the nostril and the eye is a heat pit (see picture #2 ), which enables the rattlesnake to pick up the thermal signature of approaching prey items. #Rattlesnakes are among the most maligned and misunderstood #reptiles in North America, and many people will unfortunately kill them on sight. Here are some things you should consider:
1) When rattlesnakes bite humans, they are acting defensively rather than aggressively. They do not see us as prey, and wish us no harm - they just want to be left alone.
2) Snakes are a vitally important part of the ecosystem, which help keep rodent populations in check. This is important for human health, as some rodents are carriers of diseases that are transmissible to humans.
3) Compounds from snake #venom have been isolated and used in various pharmaceuticals, often for cardiovascular illnesses, which are responsible for saving countless human lives
So the next time you encounter any snake, just give it some space, and be thankful for the role they play in the interconnected web of life. #Biology#Zoology#Herpetology#SciComm#ScienceEducation#WildlifePhotography#Wildlife#NaturePhotography#Nature

We all have a river of heartache that runs through us. There are times when the current of grief is so strong it threatens to carry us away. Still, at others, we may find ourselves swirling in an eddy, feeling powerless to move into the flow again. Our river can seem so big that we're afraid to acknowledge that it's there, let alone move toward it. My work as a counselor is to help you acknowledge, move closer, and with courage stand in that river, feeling the current while learning how to hold your ground and not get swept away. One day, you'll see that you are stronger than the current of your heartache, until then, I'll anchor you. ~ Brooke #riverbendtherapychats

Travel is the most important self care technique I use. My mind longs for the planning of the adventure, the things I will learn. My body takes in the new sights and sounds. The entire experience never fails to keep me coming back for more. Sometimes, a day trip will suffice, other times I need a full 90 days of exploration, or more!
What does travel do for you?
“I bounced around the world and the United States for many years living in some amazing places, but stopped the day I came to Colorado Springs. I’m constantly thankful to be in this community." -Don, Technology

Our Northern Colorado Employment Services partnered with @larimercounty this week for another 'Ability Day' - a day for Easterseals Colorado employment clients with disabilities to job shadow Larimer County employees. 👍
Our clients and employment specialists had a great time at Ability Day learning about various Larimer County jobs and the potential for job opportunities and further partnerships!
