My babies are getting old too quick. Crosby especially...he’s my big mommas boy. His belly drags the floor when he walks, his whiskers are gettin crooked and falling off, his face is getting whiter, his ears are splitting and I’m still loving him more every single day ♥️ #possum#possums#opossums#opossum#love#crosby

Tough news for the Penguins as they fight for a playoff spot.

Sidney Crosby of the @penguins has just undergone surgery for a sports hernia, and will miss the next 6 weeks - at minimum.
What is a sports hernia? It is called Athletic Pubalgia (a broad term meaning pelvic pain in an athlete), and is not an actual hernia - where abdominal tissues push through the wall of the abdomen. It is one of the more frustrating sports injuries to diagnose.
Some athletes may present as a typical groin strain, while others may present with abdominal symptoms, such as an oblique issue. It's very typical in sports that require the leg and pelvis to twist opposite each other - such as skating or throwing motion.
Typically if a patient is not responding to therapy in a typical groin strain sense, imaging is performed. Usually on this, tearing of the either the abdominal or groin muscles is shown near the inguinal ligament. Surgery is sometimes needed to repair the tissues, such as the case with Sidney.
