A sun-soaked November 29th to find our Christmas tree. We drove to roam up in the mountains, and the long shadows of afternoon sun stretched forever it seemed. We set up a tripod + timer for a few hilarious attempts at a family photo which has been our tradition, but my remote wasn’t working properly, so I gave up. The ground was crunching with frozen rivulets of ice along the tractor tracks in the mud. We found a tree quickly and then met friends up there, unplanned. Felt like home...this day. The kids were so happy, the sky felt so large, and the sunshine mixed with a chill to the nose swallowed me up in a hug. Life is both hard and so damn beautiful all at once.
