I think when my kids hear my next birthday(19 days awa they act like total clowns about it. Hell when I was 12 and 19 the sound of 50 was like whoa to me too!!!!!
I still think my childhood was easier then vs. now. Growing up with things such a rotary dial phone, phone numbers with letters, when kids actually played outside. I had to explain double dutch to my 12yo. When we finally had electronics it was a big deal to get an Atari 5600 and play pacman until we maxed out the score. I would not trade those days for anything.
Now fast forward to adulting and it is filled with twists and turns on any given day. The one thing that keeps me focused is staying active and eating better. Stress relief is necessary. On the blog today why fitness now is the best for me.
This is what my mom would call "Congri Sirio". The regular Cuban arroz Congri is made from black beans...this one is made with brown lentils, caramelized onions, salt, and brown rice. I use a lot more lentils than rice because I prefer it. It compliments any chicken , beef, or fish because it's mild in flavor. I like to eat it on its own for lunch too!
Here's how it's done: ( I'm not a recipe girl, feel free to adjust 😉)
✔caramelize 2 large chopped brown onions in olive oil. Add salt to taste.
✔separately, boil about 4 cups of water. when boiling, add about 3 cups of organic lentils. Let them cook. Use the lentil water! Don't strain them. Add salt to taste. ✔I use Trader Joe's organic Quick brown rice(regular brown rice takes wwwaaayyy to long😕). For this rice, it's a 2 cups water:1 cup rice ratio. ✔Add 1 1/2 cups to the water that's left and the lentils. Add the caramelized onions to the pot. Mix and add a little more extra virgin olive oil and salt if needed. ✔ cook until rice is done.

After a 13 hour travel day yesterday we made it to clear water for the @tgflex#ifbbhurricanepro ... the funny thing is with all the flight cancellations and having to fly into Orlando & drive the rest of the day I actually had a great time. Strapped and ready *real talk, I hate working out in this material, but since the hubs is off today and he asked me to wear it, here I am. I do believe this is club attire or something, it offers no wicking or support. And the aeras where there's rubbing and sweat accumulate has already started to fade (thick thighs😖😭😭). I probably get one more wear before I hide it.

Another sunrise in my rear view mirror..sigh. But it’s a sunrise..and I’ll take them anyway I can get them these days. Solid shoulder workout this morning..did something a little different. I normally do 3 sets of several different exercises, today I did 5 sets of 3 exercises with about 30 seconds of rest between each set. I only have dumbbells at my disposal..no hi-tech equipment..so I’m always looking for ways to switch things up. If you’ve got suggestions or secrets...don’t be shy. I’m really looking to focus more on sculpting going forward..and maybe joining a gym will be the answer.(although not my preference)
