Two things came to mind when I received these videos from Carolina’s wonderful fosters, where she is wrapping up her stay. First, dedicated and experienced socializers are worth their weight in gold. Carolina is actually purring in the first video! She has also very very slowly begun to show some interest in toys. Also, swipe right for that raised butt and straight-up tail. Makes my heart about burst.
Second, even the expert efforts of people focused entirely on one kitty don’t guarantee we can turn a street kitten into a lap kitten after missing their socialization window (usually between 4 and 10 weeks.) Carolina has taken a lot of beautiful small steps forward, but her flight instinct from humans is strong and she may always be a bit of a, well...scaredy cat. While she’s entirely non-aggressive, Carolina is not a beginner kitten.
All that said? She’s returning to me in a couple of days and I’ll be looking for a cat-experienced forever home for her. Community cats occupy a broad spectrum of socialization and in the vast space between elusive house kitty and barn cat, Carolina lives a lot closer to the former.
My calico girl will need an adopter happy to let her be the sweet, timid, beautiful floof she is without a lot of other expectations, for now at least. Might she surprise us all and rub against your legs one day? Maybe. But she’s a special girl who needs a special adopter, a person who can appreciate Carolina for who she is and not expect her to be someone she’s never been. If that sounds like you, please fill out an adoption application (link in bio) for angelic Carolina. She is 5 months old, spayed and vaccinated, gets along with other cats with proper intros and has impeccable manners. #fostercarolina#adoptme

❀ Beautiful Brissa is a five to six year old girl with impeccable house manners. If you are at work or running errands, Brissa will wait quietly for you to return. Once you are home, she will greet you happily with a waggy tail and a few good snuffles with her snout. After she gets some hello pets, she is content to go lie back down in her dog bed ❀ ❀ Brissa has let her foster family know about some of her favourite things. She enjoys as many pets and as much brushing as you have time for. She loves popcorn. And she relishes her daily walks. She is not a fast walker, preferring to casually stroll so she can stop and sniff all the smells along the way. Brissa does well walking in the neighbourhood and on nearby hiking trails ❀ ❀ Brissa is very much a Great Pyrenees inside and out. She needs a home with good strong leaders who will not give in when she resists doing what is asked of her. She also needs someone who understands that treats and quiet stubbornness of your own are sometimes the best way to get through to a Great Pyrenees. Once Brissa has learned to trust you, she will let more of her silly, endearing personality shine through ❀ ❀ Brissa does okay with other dogs after very slow and careful introductions. She does not live with cats in her foster home, but has met several while visiting friends. She gave each cat a sniff and then showed no further interest in them. Brissa is currently being fostered in Klamath Falls, OR ❀ ♥ All our dogs require secure and visible fencing ♥ Puppies require an active resident dog ♥ If you are interested in adopting this dog or need further information, please visit GPRS at www.greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org and fill out our SHORT application form ♥ All applicants will be subject to a thorough screening process ♥ #greatpyrenees#greatpyreneesrescue#greatpyreneesrescuesociety#greatpyr#foster#adopt#getyourrescueon#rescue#rescueadog#rescuedog#savealife#adoptdontshop#adoptadogsavealife#rescuedismyfavoritebreed#rescuepup#rescuedandloved#gprs#choosetoadopt#alwaysrescue#adoptadog#mountaindog#pyr#greatpyreneesofthehour

Last few transports have been exhausting! I have not posted our arrivals. I've been extremely overwhelmed all around the last month or so. I lost my spark for a short period but each day I'm feeling stronger again. Here are the 19 we have arriving. Only 3 still are available Jezebel , Jolly Boo and Ju-Ju Bee. https://www.peytonssafehaven.org/adoption-application
Taking Miss Carolina to her short-term foster in Long Island City. I do believe Uber has jacked up the prices for the holiday! How rude. Never mind, little lady, you’re worth it 🥰🚕 #stateskittens#fostercarolina
Please Note: Monty is hanging out in his crate of his own volition; he has access to the whole foster room with toys (though he probably shouldn’t yet!); he just feels safe up high so he goes in the open bottom and climbs up.
