Cathedral Rocks Yosemite by John M Bailey https://bit.ly/3dC0l6V. ⠀
This is one of the famous sights in Yosemite National Park, seeing Cathedral Rocks as you exit the tunnel leading to Yosemite Valley.
We met this little guy during yesterday's hike. I hadn't seen a newt, or moss, in quite some time. 🦎
This is one of my new favorite places to explore near our home! Giant mossy redwoods, flowing water, critters, and so many beautiful flowers. Can't wait to go back. If you visit this beautiful area be sure to keep a look out for Mountain Lions - we were tromping in their home!

• Jack’s Peak • Monterey, CA • Our last trip before the lockdown was in Monterey where we explored the cutesy streets of Downtown Salinas, saw wildlife (banana slug & harbor seal!), climbed Jack’s Peak, and had delicious craft brews & eats. @seemonterey#seemonterey
We haven’t been on any hikes since that weekend and it’s felt crazy how things changed so quickly. In California, the social distancing orders began the day after we got back from Monterey.
As crazy as that feels, we also feel that it’s important to maintain social distancing at this point in time to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The numbers of deaths in Italy, Spain, and NYC are deeply saddening.
Though our account and blog focuses primarily on travel (and food eaten while traveling), we encourage you to think twice about traveling at this point in time. Staying home is best to prevent spread and allows our healthcare professionals to do their jobs.
In our efforts to stay safe, for ourselves, friends, and family, we have cancelled multiple trips in order to stay at home. Because the risk just isn’t worth it!
It is weird for us to not know where we’re going next, but this also gives us some time to plan for future trips, when it is safe to travel again.
In the meantime we’ll begin sharing inspirational content again, so you all can plan for your future trips too! And you’ll get some hints of what we’ve been up to in the food world. At this time, it means cooking at home or getting takeout from local businesses #supportlocal
If there’s specific content you’d like to see from our previous trips or other destinations you’ve seen us post content on before, let us know and we’ll get posting!

Virtual Neighborhood Hike @hiker_babessjv Usually we take a group photo at the beginning of our meetups but all the babes were asked to participate by hiking locally in their own neighborhood & practice social distancing. So I created a virtual group photo [to the best of my abilities] to commemorate our event!
I want to be thinner.
There, I said it.
I love my body as it is, I’m comfortable with how I look, and I’m ok with this knowledge that I might never be smaller than I am now.
👗 But sometimes I think about how much more fun shopping would be if I were a smaller size.
💃🏼 I imagine what it would be like if my future husband could wrap his arms around me and lift me on a whim.
💁🏻♀️ I wonder how it would feel to look in the mirror and find in its reflection a body that society is simply ok with.
And I wish I were thinner.
...And even so, I’m not going to pursue thinness.
Because dieting and chasing a body type that was most likely never meant to be mine is simply not worth it.
It’s not worth the emotional and mental toll it puts on me.
And it’s not worth the weight gain that inevitably happens when my unsustainable diet (or meal plan or healthy lifestyle) finally folds on itself.
Instead, I mourn the fact that I’m not ever going to fit the mold that others have deemed to be acceptable.
And then I remember that I wasn’t made to fit the mold in the first place.
So I lift my head up, I remind myself that I’m beautiful and smart and sexy and compassionate and ambitious and all around awesome and I go about my day.
👉🏻 Do you ever wish you were thinner? What does that conversation in your brain sound like?
At a time when we all may feel so far apart and things are so uncertain, it’s nice to see us all coming together ❤️
Any time there are lives at stake, young or old, few or many, the situation deserves our careful consideration and best efforts. I’m glad to see the response now from people, businesses and governments to flatten the curve and contain the spread of the virus we still know relatively little about.
Hope you are all staying safe, healthy, and finding a way to put a positive spin on this situation.

Woodsy wonderland in the historic barn! This day took our breath away.
