It’s been a minute since I’ve posted an update! Honestly, life has been nonstop for us in the last several months. We are living in our house and loving it! We still have some things we’re finishing up, like the bathroom and the second loft, pictured here. We’ve still been working on it on the weekends and especially focusing on purging all of our stuff to move into the house. Today, I (Meaghan) stained the ceiling of the storage loft, which is something I’ve been putting off for ages. Swipe to see the before! It’s definitely not perfect, but neither was being delirious from stain fumes. 😜 More photos to come when we’re more settled! Anyone want to come paint this trim for me?
I’m following along with FlyLady’s Baby Steps for September. If you watch my stories you’ve seen me chat about them. She’s the best system I’ve found to use with my house. I used her principles to attack our garage apartment over the weekend. (That theme carried over into the main kitchen later...) I used a couple casseroles from my freezer to carry us over a couple of long work days. We still have much to do—next weekend we might tackle the steps and put hardwood down soon for the landing. These are the last few things we have to do before finishing the house.
Seems like a good tip to us! We hope your week is full of ice cream!🍦

Let's be honest, building a house can be overwhelming.🥴 There is so much to take in and so many decisions to make, it's no wonder things easily get missed!
Even for "experts" like myself the process wasn't easy😱😄 When my husband and I built our home, everything that I should have known went straight out the window!😂 So I guess my question to you is:
Knowing what you know now about building, what do you think you should have done differently? 😁 what do you wish you had known before going to site?
My greatest build regret was deleting pot drawers from our Kitchen and putting them into the "do this later" box 😪 God knows when these will be done now!😂sigh!
What about you?😄 Drop me a comment below, 🤗 I'm curious to hear your thoughts!! Bame ,xx

Officially in that ‘home’ stretch! 😜 Spent the day finishing up a few last details, cleaning, and letting the littles either run wild or watch too much iPad. Cause, parenthood. 🤷🏻♀️ 5 more days guys, 5 days. 🤩🥳 #aferreenest#homebuilding#isabellajenavieve

Build smarter and incorporate sustainability. Overton Terraces include rooftop greenery, which not only creates a beautiful aesthetic but can also increase the effectiveness of insulation, reduce noise, recycle rainwater and can even capture airborne pollutants.
• Having a cozy Sunday over here watching the rain on the lake. It’s so peaceful. This is Hurley’s absolute favourite spot to sit. Our large @plygem windows in our great room make for perfect wildlife spotting out on the lake! #kvlakehouse#homesweethome#newbuild

Sunday fun day at the new house ☺️ If we are judging who had the most fun by how dirty they got - Levi wins!
We love coming out here to look at the progress, go over the plans, and talk about our future. The best times in life are these little moments with my family by my side. ❤️
I’m still debating paint colors - it’s a big decision! I did get a ton of good suggestions off my IG story (thanks!! 🤗 ) and have some samples to swatch before I commit.
This is me right now. I prefer electric paint sprayers. They don't get drips on walls nor clothing nor anything. I already painted the beautiful shutters behind me. Fresh paint gives that, new home," feeling. Beautiful! I remember teaching my kids Geri Guillen Ross and Jason Sam how to paint with top electric paint sprayers when they were little as part of their CEO real estate builder apprenticeship so they will be successful CEOs owning real estate and charitable organizations (since I was already successful at that at the time). Home schooling helped us have the time to do that which helped us bond instead of grow apart with the generation gap that comes with so much time apart with the constant traditional classroom 🏫 school. I let them have some traditional classroom 🏫 school also so we would not be too isolated (so we had a perfect balance. CIA diplomats and other fellow CIA employee often home school with an excellent social life balance, like I did. That is the best.. Home schooling yields higher test scores statistics have proven (because it's like having more 1 on 1 private tutoring without a teacher having to take time away from your children to answer questions of other children when your kids already learned that. This gave me time to keep supermodeling, plus make my kids children models with the world's #TOPSUPERMODEL photographer, which I fid. #GREATMOM#TOPCEO#HOMEBUILDING#ISHAHLAURAHWRIGHTFOUNDATION

Here it is, the last #MillsHouseMonday because we are FOUR days away from closing! If you want to stay updated on decor progress once we move in, be sure to keep an eye out for #HomeWithStephie posts 😁
There really aren't many more updates that I haven't shared other than close ups of our appliances (minus the fridge). This past Friday we had our pre-close walkthrough where our builder educated us on different features of our home and we added blue tape for areas that needed touch up. One nice thing is that Mike has literally been on site every day so we didn't have too much other than paint and some cosmetic things.
I'm deciding on what color our hardware for cabinet & drawer pulls should be. The last 3 pics are from my Pinterest inspo board. Even though our appliances and faucet are nickel/ stainless steel, I feel like it would blend in too much to cabinet paint. Our fridge is black stainless steel so was thinking to get black pulls and black pendant lighting. But I saw rose gold pulls and y'all know I love me some rose gold 💗 I just want to tie in the black fridge with other black elements in the kitchen.... ughhhhhh!! What are your thoughts? Black or rose gold?
If you've been following along with our stories, we've been posting progress pics of our newest Newport model that we're building for some amazing clients. More updates to come so stay tuned!
In the mean time, here's a look at our Newport model, the Hillsdale version, with its stunning two story fireplace. And if you'd like to see more of this project, just follow the link in profile! #CandCoNewport
