Hey! It’s Thursday night and I’m happily sharing another great Northwest sunset from our friend Seth (@sunshineseth ). Thanks for sharing and tagging us, Seth!

9 Years of marriage today!!! It’s been filled with so many adventures but our biggest adventure during that time was moving to IDAHO!!! So today we celebrated by floating the Boise River!! (Because nothing tests your communication skills like paddling together 🤣 ) We are in our forever IDAHOME!! Thank you Lord for this amazing husband & the wisdom that lead him to that day he walked down the stairs & said “It’s time! What do you think about moving to Idaho!!” And we never looked back!! Often times we didn’t know what we were doing but we knew God was in it 💙 So thankful for the last 9 years of marriage, this hubby of mine & the way he loves me & our precious babies, how hard he works for our family (he legit started an entirely new (but amazing) career in law enforcement), the friends along the way & the doors God opened that led us home! Happy Anniversary hubs!!! 💙

Things that are even better in the backcountry:
1. Eating a hot meal
2. Taking your shoes off at the end of the day
3. Finally getting to sit down
4. Taking that first sip of wine
5. Swimming in a cold alpine lake after a sweaty hike
Further into Idaho today. Sawtooth range, granite towers, cold lakes, Salmon River. Find your quiet. Tonight it will drop to 33 degrees F here next to my truck (2 Celsius). Winter is coming. Well, it is, even tho it’s summer. 😉 #solitudeforthefuture
🔥🔥🔥HOT DISCOUNTS🔥🔥🔥 Come by this Saturday for the continuation of the Dog Days of Summer Sale. Take up to 30% off Perennials, Deciduous trees & shrubs, Berries, Herbs and Yuccas. 20% off Broadleaf evergreens and conifers. (Some exclusions apply)
Been feeling a bit existential lately...
2020 has been a ride for all of us and that’s obvious, and for some worse than others. The last few weeks I have been waking up at the same time in the middle of the night unable to sleep for a while and with anxiety burning in my chest. I think it is a combination of everything going on in the world, my taking a new path in life, and some pretty heavy things rippling through my family right now. My life is far from awful but anxiety certainly has a strange way of creeping in doesn’t it?
I’m going to use this as a reminder to cherish my loved ones and soak in all the experiences, both good and bad, that are part of what make life beautiful.✨

Early AM, 7/14/2020. A morning that will never be forgotten. It was one of those once in a lifetime shots that will likely never occur again, or at least not for another 6,800 years. Comet NEOWISE rising with the morning sun above the Sun Valley Barn.

My final, and perhaps most important tip for pulling off multiple back to back trips:
Let go of a spotless house. In order to get out there and #leavenotrace in nature, you better believe you’re going to leave a trace at home!
Weekends are when most normal people regroup and do chores. For our family, those weekends represent precious time we could be using to make memories. Chores are going to be there for the rest of our lives. Let. That. Shit. Go. We pick one chore to do each weekday when we are home and call it good. I’m ok with a semi- disheveled (ok sometimes extremely disheveled) house for the trade off of being in the mountains most weekends. When we finally do have some time at home, we catch up with it all and do a good solid deep clean.
However, people do in fact need to eat, so we try to multitask: We order almost all of our groceries online and schedule a time to pick them up (they put them right in your trunk for you people!) the day after we’re back in town. One of us puts the order in on our phone while the other is driving back from whatever adventure we’re returning from.
There you have it - my go to tips for getting lots of outdoor adventures into the summer! What would you add? What makes pulling off trips easier for you and your family?
Waterfall Wednesday, so I'm throwing back to one of my favorite places in Idaho, Mesa Falls! It's rare to see this amazing place covered in snow because once the snow starts falling, it's not long before the road to it is closed down.
👋 Hi, 𝗖𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻 here, but you can call me 𝗖𝗮𝗶𝘁! 💁🏼♀️ I’ve seen some new faces and wanted to introduce myself!

➪ I’m a Californian but have made Idaho my forever home.
➪ I live for my morning coffee, but put enough creamer in it to make it taste not like coffee ☕️
➪ I make a mean taco recipe 🌮
➪ I think onions are gross 🧅
➪ Cats are better than dogs. 😂 (Sorry CJ!)
