The local gardening group in Angaradebou, Benin works hard to bring in a good harvest, for they have a friendly competition with their neighboring village - and both are eager to prove their village has the best garden.
The friendly contest helps the women who work these gardens to make progress towards a more important goal - combating childhood malnutrition. A bountiful harvest of eggplants, mangoes, yams, and other greens means that the children here will grow up chubby and happy.

I’m Ashley Godbey. I started my fitness journey about three years ago with the initial goal to lose weight because I was bullied all throughout my childhood for always being a bigger girl. I was chunky, large framed, and tall. Even though I began to lose weight the names I was called were still engraved in my mind. That was when self hatred had won and my eating disorder was born. I developed bulimia and had an unhealthy relationship with food and the gym. However I found myself and recovered through bodybuilding. It really fuckin saved me. I fell in love with the process of becoming a better person physically and mentally. I found that I could push myself to level I never thought I could. I could change my body to look how I never thought it could. I found beauty in strength. Now here I am 18 years old about to start prep for my first NPC figure show. —————————————————————

A moment of gratitude 🙏 I love my life. I love everyone and everything in it. I love myself, and recognize myself for the life I am creating. I choose this attitude, not from ego, or any need for approval, but from self respect. It’s a perspective that empowers me, and allows me to show up powerfully for others. Drop a 🙏 if you can relate.

My current goal? I’m soooo excited to be working on a blog about my cave diving experience! Hopefully out this weekend! This picture (selfie😂) was taken in front of our first Cenote dive, “Eden” in Playa Del Carmen. The lagoon was found in a rainforest and filled with chilly crystal clear water. Despite it’s beauty, it was absolutely terrifying, exhilarating and freezing cold! The first thought that popped into my head as I followed my guide faithfully into the dark, cramped, complex system of underwater tunnels was....”What am I doing, I have kids, this is crazy!” Then I remembered my training, my skills and my strength.
To gain things you’ve never had, you have to do things you’ve never done. I’ve gained a lot on this journey 🙏🏻💋
I feel like just yesterday I was taking off my track spikes getting ready for XC season..... now I’m putting up my XC spikes gearing up for track season!!!🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️
Reflecting on this season and just so thankful for the positive growth I’ve made in just the past few months and since last XC season!
Freshman year I ran fast but wasn’t fully taking care of myself.....neglecting to give my body the proper recovery and love it needed💖 I could barely finish a run without hurting myself or having nagging pains.... I would be sore for days after a workout and could only manage about 15 miles a week😱
THIS SEASON!! I allowed my body rest days! Not only that...most of the time the day after a hard workout I was ready to go again while preforming at a much higher level! With no aches or nagging pains!
I just felt great, could manage more miles(I still do low mileage) and was just overall HAPPY💖
All because I LISTENED to my body and what it needed....Who knew something as simple as loving and properly taking care of your body and MIND could take you so far✨🌸
