This little human shows me how to “ be strong and courageous” every day. This year has been a tough one for my little guy as we strive to learn how to break down what can feel like an insurmountable problem and take it one step at a time.
How many of us can relate to this? How many of us truly have the tools to break down the Mount Everest on the horizon? It can be overwhelming and paralyzing.
Today, we worked through our #anxiety and identified all the items on our plate leading to that feeling. We began figuring out how to do each task one by one and evaluated if we had the right tools to finish. The tears and fear were real. I was reminded that instead of confronting his fear or painful paralysis with ( my) frustration that I needed to shift into #empathy and #compassion . It was a sobering reminder that he doesn’t have all the tools yet and that it’s my job to help him discover which path and tools work best for him.
Being strong and courageous is a daily decision. Whether we are at home or at work we must embrace these words and keep our focus on the end goal. Nothing that is worth it comes easy. The process is what teaches us the greatest lessons. #persevere and #nevergiveup . You can do it!
Have a great Sunday and start of a new week ahead.

Wasn't sure where my body was at, but after a night @gauntletfitnessardmore watching all their Ninja athletes train and crush it, felt the Inspiration and had to try. Its messy, but its effort and I'm grateful my body still has some quickness to it. Ps- Def was breathing heavy for an hour after #ItLikeDat#AmericanNinjaWarrior#NeverGiveUp 🎀

Proud of this girl for sitting through 2 hours of cold for EPD training to show shes committed even though injured. She wanted to be out there so bad. She will always be my champion. ♥️⚽️🏆 #builtforthis#NeverGiveUp#soccergirl4life
¡Persistencia!
Longs share...please take the time to read through because you never know it might resonate with you or someone who it does. •
There’s 17 days left of this year...are you where you want to be...professionally, personally and with your health/fitness? It’s ok if your not...to be honest...I’m not. I help and teach others #healthyhabits ... #balance and to believe in themselves and go after whatever sets their soul on fire 🔥But have to admit...this year I have had my fair share of struggles and stressful times. •
But you know what? I never gave up. I still commit to my health everyday in becoming the best version of myself as a #father and #husband and being aligned with my purpose. My health and fitness has been strong but fell off a little bit over the summer. Also my business goals, I backed off a little...just felt if I wanted to live at full capacity...I needed to work more on myself mentally, emotionally and strengthening my faith with God. Sometimes we think we have to be all in on every single thing to even do it but I don’t truly agree...it’s about doing what you can...whats right to help you become better for your daughter...family so I’m not going beat myself up that my business did grow as it should, the important thing is my #vision is still alive and I didn’t give up on myself. If you give up...you’d have no idea what could have happened if you pushed past the season...refocused and pressed on to your goals. I’m not a quitter...I wasn’t raised by quitters...I won’t raise my daughter to be a quitter and will not lead quitters. Life is never perfect my friends and you can’t become better as a individual and achieve certain goals if you don’t work and do certain things to better yourself as a whole.

HUMAN CONNECTION - AND A PERSONAL 'PINCH ME' MOMENT AT THE GYM 💙|
This morning I smashed out a functional session. No machine exercises, all free weights.
I noticed a woman training on her own I saw at the gym last Saturday morning for the first time and smiled at her from a distance and mouthed a hello.
End of session I was standing at the lockers, packing up my stuff when she suddenly walks up to me super shy and says: 'Hey, I'm sorry can I ask you something? You really look like you know what you are doing - can you help me with this? I don't know how to perform this exercise'.
I smiled at her and said 'of course'. She then showed me a FB message on her phone (she had a whole list of exercises there) and pointed on 'Lateral Shoulder Raise'.
Two things I want to highlight here.
1) Now be honest - what would you have done in her situation? Would you have asked Google or Youtube it? Or have the courage to walk up to a stranger 'who looks like what she's doing'?
I personally loooove that she chose the second option. I love human connection. And it saddens me that we are loosing it more and more these days.
Sometimes it just takes a friendly smile + a hello to 'warm' up to someone. I truly believe this broke the ice for her and made her comfortable to come ask me.
2) I walked away from this conversation with the biggest smile; the sentence was echoing in my head over and over with pride 'because you look like you really know what you're doing'.
It was a massive 'pinch me moment' for me.
I used to hate the gym. I was lacking self confidence. I had no idea what to do in a gym. I avoided it. I was lost in that environment. I felt intimidated by other people who knew what they are doing, or pretended to be. I always preferred group classes for that very reason.
It just hit me that I have come such a long way. And I am overcome with pure joy and a sense of pride.
So the lessons here
- smile at strangers, say hello
- have the courage to ask even if you don't feel comfortable or google it would be easier
- never judge others - you don't know their story
- keep going and never give up
