▪️Done quite a few sketches lately. This is my favourite of them so far: a ballpoint pen sketch of a patch of trees (sans leaves because lazy). I stumbled upon them near the Wright's Hill Fortress in Karori. Love random walks!

Week 33 part 2: Rot(ten)orua: the city that smells like a 12 dorm room 🥚
Rotorua has one of the world's most active geothermal fields. Because of this geothermal activity and the hydrogen sulphide emissions this whole city is covered in a rotten egg smell. I'd think I'd be used by the smell by now by sleeping in all the hostels, but hell no, no getting used to this. Hot pools, mud pools, geysers and craters made from this stinky place a pretty magical halloweenish place.
Also in Rotorua, we've been tubing in the Waiotomo caves and saw millions of glowworms 🐛. Fun fact: the brighter they shine, the hungrier they are. Guess I would be a shiny glowworm. We've been chilling in the soda springs in heavy rain and lightening while playing with some local Maouri children and visited the Huka falls by ending or 22km hike with a natural hot pool by sunset.
Interesting comment by Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints leader, Russell M. Nelson, regarding the shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand. We are so polarized as a religious world that it's refreshing to see behaviour like this.

Brooklyn-based creative label MSCHF have been in the spotlight for releasing a pair of all-white Nike Air Max 97's titled "Jesus Shoes". The design is in no way affiliated with Nike directly but the hype is around that the sneakers have been injected with holy water sourced from the Jordan River. The water is visible in the see-through sole, has some coloring added to enhance visibility 💧
Among the other religious details are the frankincense-scented insoles, a crucifix threaded through the laces, and a red sole which references the red shoes traditionally worn by past Popes. The shoebox itself also displays an angel and a seal that resembles the official papal seal.
The shoes, which were bought at Nike retail value by MSCHF designers before being re-designed, were part of a desire for the MSCHF brand to poke fun at collaboration culture. The sneakers retailed for over $1,000 USD and are now fetching upwards of $2,800 USD, See the full project online via jesus.shoes Photos: MSCHF

Item: Black & White pleated pants
DM to purchase 😊
Good morning!! I have been itching to put these pants up on my page I think they are so beautiful ❤ They are a thrift flip of mine. I have pulled them up and brought them in at the waist so they can sit high waisted. The waist is elasticated at the back which means it is really comfortable to wear, and is adjustable to different sizes.
These pants where already is amazing condition and have been really well made 😊
Let me know if your interested in buying 😍
Love Katey xx

For several days I live in a landscape, I slowly take possession of it, I make it my site. Then that strange morning impression can arise, when you have left the walls of rest behind you, and find yourself with the wind on your face, right in the middle of the world: this is really my home all day long, this is where I am going to dwell by walking. #fredericgros .

The mountains are calling & I must go & I will work on while I can, studying incessantly. — #JohnMuir on #preservingnature
I was crossing a suspension bridge during high winds. It felt at any moment I would float away. Look, turn, click, grip, move on. The fog amidst the fury of the wind over raging waters meld into ice brought much serenity. As if to say, listen... you’ll truly be ok warrior. Rest, regain your light, and your fury and roar will bring you back stronger and mightier like these mountains you see ahead of you!

Taking in the magnitude of Fox Glacier. Unfortunately you can no longer walk the valley towards the glacier, but the views are still magnificent from other locations in the area.
