“It’s easy to get too caught up in the tomorrow. You know what to-do lists do when
they get too long? They make you feel bad. So, I started creating personal ‘lists of
accomplishment’. They shift my mind focus from ‘I’m not getting enough done’ to ‘I’m
actually pretty amazing’. I just list the things that I have already achieved. It’s like
giving myself a pat on the back, rather than a kick in the bum. My life is busy
enough. I’m a physiotherapist. I work part-time in a big city hospital and I have two
children. My husband is retraining as a special-needs teacher at the moment, so I’m
working a bit more to earn the family money. On my accomplishment list today? Ten
minutes of doing nothing, just lying near the lake with my face in the sun.”

I made a ‘Skoolie Sand Castle’ 😂
As a true New Englander, I had to comment on the texture of the sand. 👉Just like the snow, “The is terrible snowball ⛄️ snow!” SAME thing with sand... it wasn’t the greatest texture for sand for a truly unique sand castle..., but I made it work! 💪
Eles simplesmente travaram TODAS as estradas ecuatorianas.

I know from experience that even with all the hard work put in, I wasn’t seeing RESULTS or feeling FULFILLED in my business until all other aspects of my life were taken care of too. Balance really is key! 🗝

Seasons change and so do we...
Often times, new business-owners get so caught up in a current phase – be it good or bad – they do not account for the seasonal nature of it. And therefore they do not have a strategy in place that will hold true when the leaves have turned or winter ice has set in or spring and summer is in the air.
Awareness of what season you are in prepares you for the upcoming highs or lows, and as an entrepreneur you have to be equally ready for both. For example, you cannot be slacking off, working less, shifting focus or mindlessly expanding when business is going great guns because then you will not be in a safe, strong place with a Plan B ready at hand when the money flow temporarily dries up. There is as much hard work to be done when an entrepreneur is in a season of success as there is when an entrepreneur is in a season of failure.
Because YOU are your business. You are the internal heartbeat that keeps your enterprise ticking. Miss a beat, because you’re in seasonal entrepreneur’s depression, and the enterprise is starved of oxygen. Get cocky, brash and prideful, and the enterprise suffers then too because blind ambition is now obstructing sound business decisions.
So what should you do?

First thing in my feed this morning was a post about how bus life sucks. Her experience hasn’t been what she expected in the form of delays and mechanical issues and lifestyle differences, and her family regrets their decision to leave a traditional home for this unconventional one.
And while my heart just sank for her, it made me miss my own bus so much my insides hurt.
We’ve been very fortunate in our journey to bus life. I know not everyone has this experience - I’ve had multiple bus friends hit extremely rough patches lately that have made them question their decision. Every time I see a post detailing a major life upheaval due to one of the crappy parts bus life can bring, my heart hurts for them.
I am so grateful this hasn’t been our experience.
Because while their are some downsides that we’ve posted about, it’s fulfilled every one of our expectations and then some. I’m not lying or exaggerating when I post about how much we adore our little home on wheels.
So much so that right now I’m sitting in a gauze swathed bed on a tropical island looking out at our pool surrounded by jungle, and all I can think about is this right here - my little safe haven back in Montana, and how good it will feel to return to our Oliver.
And that says something, doesn’t it? To love your home so much that the thought of returning to it after being in a magical place like Bali feels you with warm tingly feelings and not tentacles of dread? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Bus life isn’t for everyone, and each person will have a different experience.
But for me - it’s the life I love, and I miss the big white bus waiting for us back home 🚌 .

Forced to beg, a widow collects alms. When @stevemccurryofficial captured this emotive image in 1992, the once rare sight was becoming commonplace due to casualties of the Afghan Civil War. "After visiting twenty shops, the women will maybe have enough for a meal," he said. .
In Vol. 25, the Pioneer Issue, we delved into McCurry's legacy of photographic storytelling. Since 1979 he has ventured into regions of unrest, uncovering the personal stories behind the political conflicts. Coinciding with the publication of his book, Steve McCurry: A Life in Pictures, we published some of his most outstanding work online. Link in bio.
