So we thought we would give you a run down on driving the deep south and finding those tunes.
Discover an array of genres as you explore the deepest corners of the Southern states. Soak in the vivacious 'Lone Star' State, #Texas , before the #Cajun culture of #Louisiana , and the rich musical history of Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Georgia, and finally revel in the Southern Charm of Charleston, South Carolina before heading home.
Watch out for future posts as we detail this wonderful itinerary.

If you ever wanted a definition of what dancing like nobody’s watching should look like, here’s Zola, a gorilla at Dallas Zoo, to show you how it’s done.
#NotJustTravelWanderlust is by no means a fan of #Ryanair but to give credit where credit is due they do fly to some wonderful places that other carriers do not.
An area that we love is #Transylvania and Ryanair fly to Cluj Napoca from #Stanstead .
Here you will find loads to do and if you are lucky you will come across #vampires and wolves. Do try the varza a la cluj, a savoury rice and meat dish.
#Dinard located on the North Coast of #Brittany , this is one of France's hidden gems and boasts beautiful beaches and nature walks and is a short distance to #StMalo , a historic port city. Around an hours drive is the famous abbey and island of #MontStMichel . This should be on everyone's bucket list.
#Gdansk lies on the #BalticSea . This area is a popular summer beach destination and the great thing is this is a small city and easy to get around on foot. Loads of fancy resturants, bars and a good nightlife, a good location for a #weekendbreak .

Did you know that more than 130 #seal pups were born in the #RiverThames over last 12 months. How incredible is nature!
A place we visit when in town is the #MacerichFashionOutlet , always looking for a bargin. We have managed to get a few in our times visiting here. Pop over to the shops at #NorthBridge on #MichiganAve . If you time it right you can pick up top names for very little money!
We love Chicago it offers so much, architectural marvels, top museums, great enternaintment and who wouldn't want a #Chicagopizza . Do and try and visit #PierOne .
In design terms, navigating a #terminal is known as wayfinding. Historically, we rely on directional signage. We walk into a terminal and look for the signs. Where’s security? Where’s the bathroom? Where are the gates? But it appears that the best-planned airport terminals are the ones that have the least amount of directional signage because it’s largely intuitive.
There’s a whole science behind signage. Everything from the fonts to the colours to the exact height at which signs are displayed is optimised through research — airport designers actually have people walk through terminals wearing special goggles that track their eye movement to determine how long they’re looking at things. And there are numerous design techniques to guide people in the right direction. “People are drawn towards warm colours and light, so designers can use these things to pull people in one direction,” said environmental psychologist Sally Augustine, founder of Design With Science, an agency that consults with designers on the physical, mental and emotional impact of spaces on humans. “People also like to stay on the same surface, so if they’re walking on carpet, they have a tendency to keep walking on that same carpet.” But the physical layout of a terminal can also influence people’s movement through it. “To the greatest extent possible, we try to spatially design the building so that there will be a fairly straightforward set of spatial segments — you’ll have a clear sightline far enough ahead to direct yourself to things you want to get to, whether it’s a gate or the security checkpoint or a concession node." And you thought you were in charge!
Everyone should have a #bucketlist of places that you need to see before your time is up; #NotJustTravelWanderlust has too many places on their list, but here is few that should be on yours.
#Salzburg , Austria, the birth place of Mozart, and of course, the #SoundofMusic was filmed here. While here don't forget to have a tour of the Von Trapps homes and explore the wonderful buildings and take in a concert or two.
#Vietnam , a popular destination as well as Hanoi and Saigon. A visit to Hoi An should not be missed; experience the night markets and a boat ride on the river. #Jerusalem , you will not find a city like this in any other country in the world and is probably one of the most religious sites in the world. #Bruges is a fairytale city. You will love this city with its tranquil waterways, medieval market square known as Venice of the north with the added attraction of chocolate.
Think of Tommy Cooper and you don't think of #Marrakech but a place with less crowd and a labyrinthine of streets with the smell of spices and the leather. You got it #Fez !
What an incredible year it’s been at #NotJustTravelWanderlust , and this weekend we are celebrating at our annual conference! This will involve a lot of exciting announcements, and we can’t wait to share them with you. It’s going to make for an amazing start to 2020, so watch this space!

#Petra is a site that #NotJustTravelWanderlust recommends everyone to visit so it is pleased that #easyJet has increased their frequency between #LondonGatwick and #Aqaba , #Jordan , this winter. Aqaba offers lots of different activities for those seeking adventure and Wanderlust is excited to be visiting there again in 2020.

Even little old England has made the top 10!
#NotJustTravelWanderlust recently had to fly a client of ours home from an airport in #China due to the problems in #HongKong , As regular readers will know we like an airport or two.
Unfortunately, the airport we managed to fly our customer home from was not the new mega airport in #Bejing that has the world's biggest terminal and four runways. It is estimated that 72 million passengers a year will pass through it.
We would have loved a run down about it.
The airport was built in less than five years and its first commercial flight was a #ChinaSouthernAirlines to #Guangdong taking off on 25 September 2019.
It was designed by the late architect #ZahaHadid and apparently you will never walk more than 2,000 ft to a gate.
Wanderlust has decided as we are not travelling this November we would highlight places we would like to go this month.
#Vienna in #Austria is great for a weekend break especially in #winter . #NotJustTravelWanderlust just loves people watching from the warmth of a cafe whilst drinking #Melange . There are many great flea markets, one you must visit is #Naschmarket (only on Saturday). In Austria there are 379 ski resorts, 6 national parks, almost 50% of surface covered in forest, 364 bathing lakes, 40,000km of hiking routes and 27,000km of cycling routes, makes for a fantastic break in nature!
Churchill in Canada though remember temperature: 1°C high; -5°C low
Better to be a visitor than a resident in #Arctic#Churchill , which in #autumn earns the dubious honour of becoming ‘polar bear capital of the world’. As the surrounding #HudsonBay freezes, these massive mammals – male polar bears can weigh as much as 10 men – invite themselves over, in search of seals. Great news for wildlife watchers, who can board specially reinforced #tundrabuggies to get up close to earth’s largest land carnivore; not so great for the people of Churchill, who are apt to find polar bears hanging around like delinquent youths at the local bus stop. The largest groups gather in October and November.
Temperature: 20°C high; 9°C low
The masses might go mad for #cherryblossomseason , but arguably #Japan ’s most arresting sight is its #Alps in autumn. Vibrant reds, oranges and yellows sprawl across the ranges, reflected in jade-green lakes and rivers. Hiking trails get very busy, but the outstanding vistas more than make up for it, and the ever-organised Japanese excel at high-altitude #mountainhuts , where you can get a private room and #bento box-style dinner. Afterwards, the #spa towns around #Takayama are adept at soothing aching limbs. Upmarket #ryokans , such as Fukuji Onsen’s Yumoto Choza, offer both outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths, fine-dining kaiseki dinners and gorgeous traditional rooms with #tatami mats and sliding paper screens.

Not only will you get sizzling #dancedisplays , you will even get the chance to have a #onetoonedancelesson or have dinner hosted by one of the stars (bookable and fee payable). The possibility of a no-deal Brexit remains very much alive.
In a no-deal scenario, the UK would immediately leave the European Union with few - or no - agreements about the divorce process. No-deal would also see the UK leave the single market and customs union with immediate effect.
For a variety of industries, including aviation, a no-deal Brexit is set to leave question marks in areas that concern future interactions with the EU.
The UK is currently a key member of EASA, the EU’s agency that oversees aviation safety. For example, when EASA takes action, it’s implemented in the UK, too. Remaining an EASA member is a goal shared by the UK Government and the UK Civil Aviation Authority, but the UK hasn’t yet been able to confirm if it can remain a member in the event of no deal. For this reason, the UK government says it is prepared in case remaining a member of EASA can’t be achieved.
Legislation is in place to protect basic aviation connectivity between the UK and EU in the event of a no-deal Brexit. It covers the interim period before a comprehensive air transport agreement is reached between the UK and the 27 member countries of the EU.
For a UK airline to continue to operate in the EU, the legislation requires operators to obtain an operating authorisation from each member state where it wants to operate. Much like British drivers licences and car registrations, most certified documents in British aviation are EU-certified documents. In a no-deal Brexit, the UK would recognise EASA certificates, approvals and licences for use in the UK aviation system and on UK-registered aircraft at least for a period of two years following Brexit.
Pilots with UK licences who want to fly EU-registered aircraft in a post-no-deal Brexit would need to transfer their licence to another EASA member state before Brexit. Low-cost carrier EasyJet has already transferred more than 1,400 pilots licences from the United Kingdom jurisdiction to Austria as a part of no-deal planning.

One half of #NotJustTravelWanderlust had the pleasure of living and working in #Russia and loved ever minute of it, the people, the sights and even the food.
One place we didn't get to though is #Oymyakon in eastern #Siberia and is closer to the #ArcticCircle than it is to a city.
In the town square is a monument that commemorates the day in 1924 when temperature fell to 96 degres below zero fahrenheit.
Oymyakon, north of the sea of #Okhotsk , is the coldest permanantly inhabited place on #Earth .
Cars are left running all the time. If you walk down the street your eyelashes and saliva will freeze into painful needles on your face. Put a bottle of vodka out and it will freeze.
Every night is 21 hours so don't expect too much sight seeing, plus the nearest airport is a two day drive which must be said cuts down on tourism!

Bansko for a family of four can be a lot cheaper and we mean a lot cheaper than some of the well known resorts in Europe.
Though in BBC speak, there are other ski resorts that are good value including Bardonecchia in Italy.

People are constantly asking us why travel agents still exist in the age of internet and we have one simple answer:
TRAVEL IS LIKE A CUP OF COFFEE
Coffee, like travel, is deluged with a number of options.
You can make it yourself at home and it's fairly cheap. You know exactly what is going into it, how much it cost you and if it tastes like c***p, you've only got yourself to blame. You are not a coffee expert but it does save you a bit of money.
However coffee shops, like travel agencies, exist. You are quite prepared to pay for someone else to do something that you are perfectly capable of doing yourself at home. Prices vary from store to store depending on who is making it, what size you buy, how many people are having coffee and how much the store decides their time and resources are worth.
It is essentially the same product as you make at home but you are paying for someone to froth the milk, brew the coffee, wash the cups, make the cake that you decide to add on to your coffee order and clean up after you. If you want to tailor your cup of coffee to your precise tastes, you are paying for someone to do that for you, and if it tastes like c***p, you can take it back and get them to fix it. You are prepared to pay that little bit more to have someone else do the work for you and ensure you have the exact coffee you were after.
Why do you go to a coffee shop rather than making it yourself at home every time? Maybe you like the way a certain coffee shop makes your coffee. Maybe you like the atmosphere of the coffee shop. Maybe it's more convenient than fiddling around with a coffee machine at home. Maybe your coffee shop has introduced you to a new blend or a syrup that you hadn't tried before. Maybe they have access to some really great cakes.
Do you argue that Starbucks is cheaper than Nero? Or that Coffee #1 give you a cheaper cup of coffee with a muffin purchase that Costa doesn't? No, you just buy it because you like it...

Mr Portillo will hit #Australia this weekend and take us on some of Australia's best railway adventures.
The first of six #GreatAustralianRailwayJourneys episodes will air on #BBC2 this Saturday, 26 October 2019 at 8pm.
Episode one will showcase #TheGhan as it travels from Adelaide to Darwin. Mr Michael Portillo boards in Port Augusta and we watch as the landscape changes from the rusty red of Australia's Red Centre to the tropical hues of Darwin and gain an insight into the world-class yet laid back hospitality that's characteristic of The Ghan.
Episode three will showcase parts of the #IndianPacific 's journey from Sydney to Perth with viewers again invited into life on board one of Australia's most iconic trains.
Early next year is the Indian Pacific's 50th anniversary and also marks the beginning of #TheGhanExpedition offering the option to split in Alice Springs and continue a few days later - yet more reasons to book a holiday with Wanderlust.

Wanderlust can now book #HollandAmerica Line 2021 Grand World Voyage aboard #Amsterdam , and it's a journey of cultural immersion like no other. Circling the globe for 128 days, the epic world cruise makes 47 calls in more than 20 countries, visits 35 #UNESCO World Heritage sites, and features nine overnight visits and 10 late departures so guests can experience more ports from day through night.
The #GrandWorldVoyage is the pinnacle of cruising, giving travellers the ultimate way to see and experience dozens of cultures and countries around the world in a way that combines all elements of travel — from learning the history to simply taking in the scenery.
Highlights of the 2021 Grand World Voyage include an Amazon River exploration, transits of the Panama and Suez Canals, and calls at several ports that are gateways to some must-see sites including the Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal, Petra and Ephesus.
A significant length of time is spent in Asia, with overnights in Tokyo and Kobe (Osaka), Japan; Xingang (Beijing), Shanghai and Hong Kong, China; Singapore; and Mumbai (Bombay), India. Guests also enjoy overnights at Aqaba, Jordan; and Istanbul, Turkey; and late departures at Hilo, Hawaii; Naha, Japan; Da Nang, Vietnam; Colombo, Sri Lanka; Dubai and Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.; Aqaba following the overnight; Ashdod and Haifa, Israel; and Mykonos, Greece.
As Amsterdam cruises west, the ship explores three ports in the Hawaiian Islands and calls at Majuro, Marshall Islands; and the U.S. Territories of Guam and Saipan — unique locales in the South Pacific not often visited.
One of our clients found themselves on a #MalaysiaAirlines Airbus A380 — the largest commercial aircraft in the world, on a repatriation flight from #Palma to #Manchester . They were supposed to be going to #Birmingham , but were just glad to get back to the #UK . They were bused to Birmingham so were not left stranded at Manchester.
The #CAA had chartered it for the occasion, so #OperationMatterhorn has been hard at work for 12 days now. According to the #CAA , the organisation will operate a total of 39 flights on Tuesday alone, returning around 7,000 passengers to the U.K. Since the repatriation effort began, the CAA has commissioned 530 flights, flying more than 115,237 passengers on more than 100 aircraft.
The operation is set to continue until 6 October, with around 900 flights planned and an estimated 150,000 passengers flying. The CAA says that it’s flown 94% of passengers back on the original date of their planned Thomas Cook flight.
According to the CAA, the total cost of the #repatriationflights is £100 million. This is in addition to the cost of compensating people for future bookings.
The CAA confirmed that it has relationships with many airlines and leasing companies, holding year-round contracts in anticipation of this sort of event. To date, Operation Matterhorn has utilised many airlines, such as Atlas, EasyJet, Wamos, Avion, Envelop, Titan Airways, Nile Air, Hi Fly and Miami Air.
So we take our hats off to the The Civil Aviation Authority which has undertaken a huge task. The sheer logistics of bringing home 150,000 people have been executed with the least disruption possible to people who might be on their only holiday this year.
Now for the task of getting eligible passengers their refunds!

Ok, hands up who when they visit Ellis Island think they are in New York? 🙋♀️🙋♂️ #EllisIsland was Island of Hope and at the same time Island of Tears. One half of #NotJustTravelWanderlust 's Aunt arrived here just 16 years of age on the 24 December 1950.
At one time, Ellis Island was a military post fortified by the War Department for the protection of #NewYork Harbour. But in the 1890s, the Federal Government took over immigration, and Ellis Island was chosen as New York’s inspection station for new arrivals. To accommodate the new facilities, the island
New York and #NewJersey have been fighting over their mutual border for centuries, and the dispute actually turned into a shooting war more than once during the colonial era. A 1834 agreement hammered out by Congress put the state line in the middle of the #HudsonRiver , but New York got to keep Ellis Island, since they’d leased it back in 1794. In effect, New York owned the island, while New Jersey owned all the water surrounding it.
In 1998, 160 years after the squabbling began, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that 90 percent of Ellis Island should indeed belong to New Jersey, which triumphantly raised its state flag over the island. “Welcome to Ellis Island, New Jersey,” gloated then-Senator Robert Torricelli.
Today, the two states share jurisdiction of the island. The whole kerfuffle was a little pointless, since Ellis Island has been part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument since 1965—and is therefore administered by neither state!
Virgin Atlantic has announced that it has a new route starting on 29 March next year.
One of their Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners will be flying to Sao Paulo and marks its first foray into South America. It has also agreed a code share with GOL, Brazil's largest airline thus allowing people to fly to a further 37 destinations within the country.
The good news is that you will get the same baggage allowance and will be ticketed to your final destination.
Wanderlust can book you on this flight from 10 September 2019.
New European Court Ruling
The European Court of Justice has ruled in favour of passengers in the latest case of delayed flights.
Previously EU carriers were only reponsible for compensation if their flight was arriving or departing from the EU.
In this latest case 11 passengers had booked a flight with Czech Airlines departing Praque to Bangkok via Abu Dhabi.
The second leg of the trip was delayed by 8 hours.
The court ruled that Czech Airlines did owe the passengers travel delay compensation even though the airline argued that it couldn't be held responsible for delays caused by partner airlines.

#CostaRica has recently declared the Miravalles Volcano National Park-Jorge Manuel Dengo the country’s 29th national park. The new addition, located in the north-western region of Guanacaste, is one of Costa Rica’s hidden gems – it's nearly 5,000 hectares and features some of Costa Rica’s biggest geothermal fields!
Thousand of British passengers have been left stranded as Turkmenistan Airlines has had its permission to fly in the EU airspace revoked due to safety concerns.
The UK's Civil Aviation Authority said flights from Birmingham and London Heathrow to Amritsar and New Delhi which fly via Ashgabat, Turkmenistan have been suspended.
Passengers booked on any of their flights should contact the airline to seek advice. Passengers who have already travelled may need to make their own arrangements to return home.
For those lucky enough to have brought a ticket costing over £100 and paid with their credit card may be able to make a claim against the credit card company.
Though we do harp on about using a travel consultant, this is another reason to do so. If you book through us we will take control and do our utmost to arrange alternative means to get you to your destination, or more importantly, home.
Wanderlust hires lots of cars while abroad and in the UK and normally books direct with the hire company.
We have seen some unbelievable bargains that make you think that you need to book straight away before another holidaymaker gets in first.
The question is can you really book a hire car for a week in Spain in the run-up to the busy Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend at a cost of just 27p as one of the deals we saw? There were plenty of offers for £5 or less for a whole week's rental.
Believe us this will never happen. The final bill will invariably be many times more once a range of sneaky extra charges have been included. You will have become another victim of a worrying new trick known as 'bait rates'. These are when rental firms battle to lure in customers with a tempting deal on price comparison websites – then find underhand ways to claw back cash once they are hooked. But once you are tempted, the pressure is instantly on to make you pay more, either online, when you arrive at the rental desk – or even after you have returned the car.
Do not take their insurance to cover excess, you can buy this before you leave at a reasonable rate, but do note that you will have to pay the damage and claim back on the excess insurance policy. If you have the American Express charge card you will find this is one of the benefits.
Taking back a car out of normal working hours can also incur steep charges of between £20 and £65.
Europcar and it’s subsidiaries seem to be the worst and has come bottom of an annual survey of the industry in five of the last six years by the consumer group Which? and continues to attract widespread criticism for applying spurious charges.
Our advice is if it’s too cheap then you will probably pay twice as much as the price advertised.
Why book with Not Just Travel Wanderlust?
Here's another great reason why it's better to book with not just any travel agency, but Not Just Travel... Yesterday during the after-effects of Superbreak ceasing trading, we were getting calls from guests at hotels. They were being held hostage in the hotels they had previously been guests in!
As Superbreak wouldn't be paying the bill, the clients were not being allowed to leave unless they paid more money.
Although technically not our responsibility, we didn't waste time, we simply paid for the clients so they could continue their holidays.
I'm not sure every other travel company would have done the same.
We care about our customers and want your travels to be as stress free as possible and that’s why people come back to us time and time again.
It was one of those moments when we were proud to be part of Not Just Travel and just one of many reasons why you should book your holiday through Wanderlust 😎

Wanderlust has always said that it's better to book through a travel and experience specialist than online and it seems that Millennials are beginning to agree with us! It would appear that showrooming is not happening as much as one may think. People have moved back to using a travel consultant for the security and reassurance and to get the bespoke holidays that many want to experience that are just not available online.
