...when am I supposed to study?
👩🏼⚕️During med school rotations, you spend most of your time in the hospital. Every rotation and site is different, but here is how the last few weeks of my pediatrics rotation have been...
😪I wake up at 5:30am, get to the hospital at 7am, and stay there until somewhere between 5pm and 6:30pm. If I’m on call, I stay until 8pm or 11pm.
🤓Any free time at home or in the hospital is spent studying for the Shelf exam at the end of the rotation.
But wait... there’s more...
My clerkship assignments include:
📚3 well-polished History and Physical write-ups with a literature review.
📝Assessments of your ability to perform a good history and physical exam while at the hospital (mini-CEX’s and OSCEs).
💻Patient notes to be included in their files.
👩🏼⚕️Oral presentations for morning rounds on patients.
🏢Occasional lectures at school.
🎥A PowerPoint presentation to prove to a neonatologist that I know something about babies.
📖Read any articles that are provided by attendings.
👨🏻🏫Lectures and discussions by attendings, if they feel like it.
And all of these things play a role in the clinical component of my clerkship grade.
So when do I get time to study for my clerkship Shelf exam? 😬
🌪 Welp. This last week is going to be a sprint. I was on call yesterday, so I didn’t get this full weekend to study. But you really need to learn to roll with the punches and accept that you’re simply doing the best you can do. And learn as much as you can from your assignments, your patients, and the clinicians’ approaches to treating them.
👩🏼⚕️This is my first rotation, and I’m gradually adjusting to the constant go-go-go nature of it all. All skills come with practice. The most important thing is to remember that you’re never going to be PERFECT, so you shouldn’t EXPECT yourself to be. And that applies to everyone, no matter what stage of schooling or life you’re in.💛
We got this! 💪🏼

I love this man right here with every inch of my being. I am so happy for him right now.
My heart is full.
For the last 2 years, he commuted from Michigan to Texas for work every week. This commute included a 2.5 hour flight and hours of driving to and from the airports.
because I loved my job in Michigan. And I wasn’t ready to let it go and find a new one in Texas.
I am so incredibly happy that now we are all in Dallas.
He has a job that he absolutely loves, his commute has decreased significantly, he has some really good friends here from his school and college times and a great cricket team.
Last night, all the friends and their families were out together for a dinner and his frequent laughter gave me a feeling I had yet to experience in the US.
That we are home.
This is home.
There is a weight that has been lifted off my shoulders.
We have been through some pretty rough times but our love has kept us going.
Last 2 years, I single mom’d with an OB job, exams and my business and Instagram ventures.
Suddenly, I am free of a lot of responsibilities and it feels foreign but so good.
I am looking forward to this new and exciting chapter of our lives.
We Are Home.

Hello 26 👋🏼
Yesterday marked the first birthday since I was a kid that I haven’t spent in school or working. (Fun fact, on my 21st birthday I had a physics and evolutionary biology exam)
This weekend I said goodbye to my flying benefits, health insurance, and my loan repayment deferment.
But I’m also saying hello to some cool new credentials, a big girl job, more wedding planning, and sweet time with my family and friends before things get going!
Although this is the 3rd year in a row Chris hasn’t been able to make my bday (long distance probs), I’m so grateful for the chance to have spent it with my very best friends!
Happy birthday month to my fellow Virgos! 🌟

✨ I PASSED MY FAMILY MED EOR ✨
These are the resources I used to study
⭐️ Family Med EOR content blueprint (Used Smarty pance and Pance Prep Pearls to make my study guide)
⭐️ Smarty Pance End of Rotation Practice Exam
⭐️ Read through my study guide
⭐️ Created practice exams from Rosh Review for each content topic with 50 questions each and read through the explanations
⭐️ Same week of exam, Monday I take the Rosh Review exam as a practice test without going over the explanations first time through just to see what my score is. Second time around I read through every explanation and take notes
⭐️ Day before exam, I read over all my notes quickly. I take the day before the exam very easy.
Let me know if you have any questions! Hope this helps you guys ❤️
My next rotation starts Monday and it is Emergency Medicine. Nervous for this one. Please comment any tips for me ❤️

I remember the days I prayed what I now have ✨
A year ago- I submitted ERAS and sent my application all across the country. How has it been a year!?? it’s basically the hunger games when interview invites drop since most programs send out more invites than they have spots. it’s anxiety provoking. I was filled with so much self doubt. It’s an expensive, daunting, overwhelming process. To the fourth year’s out there that might be feeling the same way- know that you are not alone! I’m sending you all the positive vibes 💕
Interview invites are about to start dropping 😱 I had connected my email to my Apple Watch, so I wouldn’t miss the notifications. I carried a small calendar with all my interview dates on it in my pocket, so I could make an informed decision quickly! hey a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do
Ask me all of your interview or ERAS questions below 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
