I emphasize mental health a lot but sometimes forget to practice what I preach. and it always takes an obstacle or tough situation to come up for me to remember to take care of my mental state before anything else. the other day @anotherdamnleo reminded me that “you cannot possibly love or help another person if you cannot love and help yourself first”... sometimes it takes a reminder from others of something you already know, to get you back on track!!!
but as for the workout try out this gnarly tri-set!!! 1.) DB single leg box step up to reverse lunge 2.) single leg box jumps 3.) kneeling jump to box jumps💪🏼 •

__ 🤕In sport, some level of injury is inevitable. Aches and pains are common, and reducing the likelihood of injury for an athlete is something both Physios and strength coaches alike are trying more to help keep athletes on the fields, courts and mats.
🤼♂️ Combat sports are no different especially with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, or judo. We cannot “prevent” injury due to a variety of external factors, but we are able to train in a way that prepares our body for the potential variables the sport may present to us. Training both strength and stability in positions that are practical to the athlete/fighter and ready the body for any type of situation it may be demanded of.
🦵🏼Since lower extremity injuries are common (hip, knee, ankle), a great starting point for injury reduction is through single leg strength and balance. Having good trunk and hip stability is crucial to be able to maintain both balance all while trying to produce power during transitions of sweeps, passes, or take downs.
🔎When performing Single leg activities the major focus points include:
𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: equal distribution of force on big toe, little toe and heel of your foot
𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Foot stacked under the knee, which is stacked under the hip
𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐤 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Avoiding compensatory motion of bending or twisting,

Deadlifts felt solid tonight! Been dialing in my form on these to try and get better hamstring activation and tonight was the night y’all! Banged out a few sets of triples with 265 and hit them legs HARD. People may say deadlift is a back workout, but in my opinion if your feeling more back activation than legs you’re probably doing it wrong... just saying. Strength is getting there guys, let’s kill this shit!
