'요한계시록 3:15' 말씀처럼 하나님께서는 차든지 덥든지 어느 한쪽이 되어라고 말씀하셨다. 그리고 오늘 말씀 가운데서도 마지막 날에는 '멸망할 자'와 '상받을 자'로 구분되어 질 것이라고 분명하게 말씀하신다.
사회생활을 하다 보면 '적당히', '중간만', '눈에 안띄게'는 암묵적으로 미덕으로 통할 때가 많다. 잘하지만 또 누군가의 눈 밖에 날까, 못해서 도태될까 걱정할 바에야 중간이 제일 안정적이라는 경험의 축척이 시간이 흐를수록, 나이가 들수록 점점 고착화 된다.
하지만 신앙적으로는 하나님께서 너무나 분명하게 말씀하고 계신다. '너 나의 동료가 돼라!' 라는 원피스의 명대사 처럼 내 편에 서서 뜨거운 자가 되어라 하신다.
세상에 대한 걱정을 다 맡기면 신앙은 물론 삶 속에서도 뜨거운 자가 될 수 있을 것이다.
그렇게 살아보자!

As New Yorkers, we’re so used to being encouraged to be “planners”, to look far into the future and have a game plan of where we want to go and how we’re going to get there. I mean, even just riding the daily subway forces you to have that mentality of “knowing what’s ahead” and “being prepared” (that L train though...🤦🏻♀️). .

But what if we took a glimpse outside of our plans to realize we’re not guaranteed tomorrow, even the rest of today? Not to sound morbid (sorry), but what if we humbled ourselves enough to believe that no matter what and how and how MUCH we plan, life is mostly beyond our control? And in that knowledge, what would it look like to then PRAY, for God’s will to be done but also for us to live in humility and peace, knowing that it is He (not we) who plans, plans to prosper us (Jeremiah 29:11), and who delivers life, life to the fullest (John 10:10).

Haven’t had a tub in months because our plug is broken (won’t stay down?!?) but today, after a loooong, stressful day that’s ending in a migraine— I needed a hot bath more than anything. So I googled how to fix the drain and discovered: . . .
