Sitting in my tent on the spur trail up Mt Elbert waiting on n dinner to hydrate. What better time for uploading pictures for day 10 July 12.
After a lovely zero day in Frisco, I set out on my own for the first time! It was a late start, but man was it a pretty day. Epic vistas and amazing trail all day.
I decided to push up Searle Pass and camp between there and Kokomo Pass. I was enjoying all the distant storms so much from my campsite that I hadn't noticed the one that creeped up behind me! I had just started warming up dinner when I noticed that I could no longer see Searle Pass. I turned off the stove and panic flailed everything into my tent including myself. After about 30 minutes of intense tent uprooting wind, there was a lull.
I looked outside to see wave two coming in. I didn't know I could pack my bag as fast as I did. I speed walked about a mile and found slightly better cover and boy was I glad for it. After pitching my tent in the dark I went straight to bed and never stopped hearing the roar of the wind.
