Hallöchen ihr Lieben 🤗 (Werbung/Kooperation) "Find a beautiful place and get lost" ...
Also ich liebs!
Habt einen tollen Abend 🤗☀️ #mapiful#mapifultextart#mapifulfamily#island#iceland#skogafoss#bookaholic#booknerd#bookaddict#bookstagram#bookstagramgermany#bookblogger#bücherliebe#bücherwurm#leseliebe#lesenmachtglücklich#efeutute#plantlove

Sometimes nature can make us feel incredibly small, and this is definitely the case with glacier-formed, Skógafoss. With a drop of 197 feet, it's both impressive and majestic at almost any angle.
For a panoramic, top-down view, climb 370+ stairs and take in miles of southern coastline. Or, as shown here, embark on the "Fimmvörðuháls" trail and head toward its epic base.
Since the base is near the beginning of the trail, and just three minutes from the parking lot, it allows visitors the flexibility of either a short walk, or a cooling mist before a moderate, 15-mile hike. While enveloped in a veil of fog and crashing water, be sure to look up; single and double rainbows are often seen on sunny days. 🌈🌈
The only angle not permitted is from a drone, and it's important to keep this in mind, as locals take this quite seriously. Other than Skógafoss, this rule also applies to famous attractions with high foot traffic, such as Gullfoss and Seljalandsfoss, as well as Reynisfjara Beach and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.
From the Reykjavík–Keflavík Airport, Skógafoss is a 2.5 hour drive southeast. Type "Skógafoss Parking" in your GPS to go right to the gravel lot, which is free and open until dark.
Since this area isn’t lit, it’s only advised to visit during the day. If you'd like to stay overnight, many visitors set up camp in the parking lot. For just a small fee, this includes access to a 24-hour hut with toilets, showers, and outdoor sinks. Alternately, Hotel Skógafoss is also nearby.
Depending on whether you've come for the view, hike, or both, it's best to budget 30 minutes to 4+ hours. And while you’re here, don't spend all your time trying to find the legendary chest of Viking gold under Skógafoss, as it’s next to impossible to find. Although, the chest’s ring was pulled off, and can be found at the Musée de Skógar.
