When we arrived in the city of Vientiane we were welcomed into the home of a French/Canadian family living in a house they built from bamboo that also served as an art studio. Marido was an artist from France and her husband Mair, a translator from Canada. Mair shared his favorite cycling routes through Laos with us and they offered us a comfortable bed, gorgeous view, pool and meditation room, as well as coffee with some home-baked bread. Minus the giant mosquitoes and the frog in our bed, it was pleasant spot to stay in the city. I feel thankful for the cycling community of the world and the willingness of so many to welcome strangers into their homes. .

Today, @starbuckscanada made a HUGE sustainability announcement. They’ve committed to becoming a resource positive company by storing more carbon than they emit, eliminating waste, and providing more clean freshwater than they use. 👉🏽 Swipe to see some of their preliminary 2030 targets.

We love working with socially responsible companies who are as committed to protecting the environment as we are! 💚
🇬🇧 When we heard about the Araucanía region, we were told about the national parks with its volcanoes and the towns of Pucón and Villarrica, the biggest tourist centres here. What we didn't know was that this region is the homeland of a large part of the Mapuche, the indigenous people of the country.
The view of the volcanoes was impressive, but being immersed in the heart of the Mapuche culture surprised us much more! .
When you want to discover the best of Portugal and discover still authentic villages, make sure to visit the picturesque Ericeira, just 30 km north of Lisbon. In order to feel & see the real beauty of Ericeira, do visit before of after the summer, when Ericeira is at its best, quiet and laidback, a blessing for heart and soul❤️

Guest-post by @pancakesonthethird :
Traveling by train across the US: Los Angeles to New York in three days
There is so much to say about train traveling in the US - but let’s start with some of the basics:
The trip between LA and NY takes about three days if one chooses the fastest route possible - two days on #SouthwestChief between LA and Chicago, and then #LakeshoreLimited from Chicago to New York.
I found tickets for $193 with @amtrak ‘s Saver Fare both times last summer - and I didn’t even book my tickets very well in advance. If I had wanted to sleep in a bed instead of a seat for the three nights the price would have been five or six times higher though.
For both my trips there were some delays involved (something Amtrak seem to have sort of a reputation around) - the biggest one between LA and Chicago, due to floodings. There were also times when we were standing still for long periods of time, waiting for cargo trains to pass - they have priority on the rails here. In the end, I arrived more or less in time to my final destinations - and the thing I missed the most from Amtrak’s side along the way was information to the passengers about what was going on when we were not moving. But part of being a “happy train traveler” is also to just relax along the way and trust that it will all be fine - and to make sure to have enough margins to not stress out when the delays happen.
Three days on a train might sound like a lot, still to me they almost went by too fast. :) Especially the route between LA and Chicago is a very scenic one, and spending the days in the panorama car lets you dream away as you stare out the big windows - and gives lots of space to enjoy conversations with your co-passengers. If traveling solo, like I did, there is plenty of opportunity to socialize if you want to - and also to just stay in your own bubble, listening to music, writing, landscape-gazing, reading...
To travel like this is truly a beautiful experience, something I wish that more and more people will have (or take) the chance to explore in the (near) future!
Discovering new things every single day! Perhaps I’m still wearing rose-coloured glasses and completely infatuated with Skellefteå’s small-town charm, but whatever it is, I’m cool with it. I, for one, am very much enjoying the honeymoon phase.
So often we find ourselves lost in time when we’re near the ocean. Remembering the winter day I took @hanseluo89 to one of my favorite beaches in Portugal. It was so empty and quiet.
Sometimes we prefer to travel off-season, avoiding the crowds so we can really take in where we are.
Everything looks better with frosting, dontcha think?! ❄️♥️ // #AlanaInSweden
You ever have one of those weeks where your mind is a day ahead of reality?!... well that was me yesterday thinking that it was Tuesday and posting a #TravelHackIt Tuesday on Monday! 🤦🏻♀️😂 So if you are reading this wondering where your promised travel hack is, it’s back in the future-past (i.e., yesterday’s post) 🤪
Also, I’m working on a Kiruna itinerary post for you guys on CourseCharted.com. I’ve had tons of questions from you about this gorgeous, winter wonderland region in norther Sweden and figured an itinerary post will be a great place to start answering them. So be on the lookout for that in the next few days!

It’s been a very long time since the Matarranna River has frozen at Valderrobres, so we’ve been told. Anyone know when it happened last? Makes me think of the amazing Joni ⛸ 📷thanks to Elisabeth
Just a quick first announcement 📢 we reached 25,000kms 🎉🏅
It's been an interesting few days! We left Torres Del Paine with beautiful weather, enjoying the clear view of the mountains and as we were going east, the wind was at our backs 🌬️🤗
We also joined forces with Satya 🇺🇸, we cruised along with some insane tail winds (50km/h!) and endured some hefty side winds 😅😳
Yes we know all we seem to talk about is the wind but it defines our days down here in Patagonia 😉
🇬🇧 How to be a sustainable traveler in Lisbon downtown?〰️🍃
-> Visit Baixa Pombalina early morning, preferably during the week. It's less crowded.
-> Watch out for trash bins. Imagine if everyone threw cigarette butts on the floor? That happens.
-> Pay attention to historical details. Those who value the history of the country they visit usually respect this place more.
-> Prefer typical, Portuguese and family restaurants. Yes, you still find those hidden gems!
-> To move around choose walking or taking the Electric of Carris!
〰️ WE WANNA KNOW: Let's say you win one point for each item. How many points would you have so far?💡
Four years ago this adventurous chapter of our life living alongside this magic little herd was just beginning.
We had hitchhiked to Villa O’Higgens, the last (or first) town along the Careterra Austral.
We’d set up basecamp just outside of town as we built relationship with the local community and found the first 2 of our 3 incredible horses that would carry us across the region for the next four months.
Every single day was an adventure into the unknown;
every single moment was a lesson in patience and learning the art of being swept up in the time of a place, rather than trying to force it into some rigid timeline.
Every encounter was an invitation to share story and presence.
Everything took longer than expected, which only meant we learned not to have expectations with aspects of life requiring divine timing. (which is actually most aspects of life 😁)
And everything always works out, in the end.
And if it hasn’t worked out, it’s simply not the end.
It may even just be the beginning...

Dragonfly Dirigible - personal project (just for fun)
It’s a work in progress, there is more to come. Visuals of the interior too.
In the nature, dragonfly wings possess great stability and high load-bearing capacity during flapping flight, glide, and hover. The wings of this insect are mainly composed of veins and membranes. These have a complex design within the wing that give rise to whole-wing characteristics which result in dragonflies being supremely versatile, maneuverable fliers.
The Dragonfly Dirigible is a dirigible which could carry 50 to 60 passengers in the air, at 100mph. Its structure is rigid and its shape inspired by dragonflies. The airship uses helium to lift itself and electric engines as propeller. The engines are reloaded via giant wings made of flexible solar membranes. The main purpose of the vehicle would be for transport and tourism with the idea of slow travel in post-oil world. We could also imagine a cargo version.
2020 is the start of a new chapter for me. During the last few years, I’ve worked for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Louis Vuitton and Hermès. Gained experience on high end projects and developed knowledge about different materials, a sense for shapes and colours as well as being orientated towards the functionality and the simplicity of the object.
I am now based in London and available for Freelance opportunities. I am excited by the prospect of working on a wide range of projects: transportation and mobility design, product design, leather and luxury goods, furnitures, city & urbanism problematic, theme development & colour research. My motivation force is to express my creativity, sensitivity and demand for beautiful, simple and useful things.
If you're interested, please contact me in DM. I would love to hear opportunities that you may have and look forward to meet you in person.
All the best for 2020!
Sketch: Dragonfly Dirigible - personal project -> more to follow soon !
TURKEY! ❤️🇹🇷One and a half month has passed, and it was hard to say good bye!
After touring with bike in many countries over the past years, we can easily say this is one of our top picks. Here we’ve had some of our finest memories, seen the most incredible sunrises, and met friends, who will stay in our hearts forever. Everyday we were welcomed, invited for chai, food, fruits, a bed, a chat, and greeted with big smiles.
Turkey also happend to be the country where we stopped being so afraid of dogs! Here they often just hung out and guarded us, in return for a cracker or two. Our biggest obstacle with them, might have been when six puppies tried to get into the tent.

Hepinize mutlu bir hafta diliyorum.. Pedalınız bol olsun🙋♂️❤🎶🚴♂️
The rains have arrived in Colombia! But even under heavy cloud while drenched in mud the scenery in the Caldas coffee region is a picture of lush peaks, sweeping coffee plantations and rainbow coloured pueblas where gauchos sip tintos in panaderías and wizened old women roll arepas on the side of the road. .
