Off to my next Destination - Durham, another historic English town nestled by the River Wear since roughly 200 BC. I started my day with a visit to Durham Castle and Durham Cathedral that are standing side by side on a hilltop and form a UNESCO World Heritage Site (swipe right to see more photos from both of these places)
The castle was built over 900 years ago to protect the English borders and today it’s home to the students of Durham University. Fun fact: you can actually stay in the castle overnight during university holidays (I'm definitely coming to Durham to do that!) 🤗
Durham Cathedral is one of the finest surviving examples of Norman architecture in the UK. I climbed 325 steps to get to the top of the Tower and enjoy the breathtaking views of the city. Another fun fact: Durham Cathedral was a filming location for Hogwarts in the first two Harry Potter movies! I didn’t know that until I got there!
‘Are you tourists?’ he asked stepping out of the mosque. ‘Da’ I replied, and he broke into a broad smile. ‘This is the school, and these patterns cover the window, but before this was...’ he launched into, happily telling me and @adventuresoflilnicki all about the Mosque and the city. It wasn’t long until more people joined to tell us facts with smiles and chat about our trip.
This sums up #Tajikistan to me, hospitality like I’ve never experienced before.
The day before when we arrived back into #Dushanbe we walked around for ages trying to find our apartment, assuming it was somewhere. EVERYONE tried to help us, ladies waiting at the bus stop, the kind man mowing the manicured lawns of the city, people were called out of cafes and travel agents from buildings to help us hunt before they took us into their office, offered water and sweets, and started calling around trying to find this mystery place. Turns out it was a fake listing, first time that’s happened to me, but after this two hours of assistance no one wanted a thing from us, no money at all. Even in the capital city, the hospitality, warmth and kindness I had experienced in the countryside was prevalent and something I’ll never forget. 🇹🇯 #Tajik#Mosque#architecture

Imagine living inside a dormant volcano…for those in the Lagoon of the Seven Cities, life inside this lush valley is one of sheer beauty. The crater has two lakes, one blue and one green, which according to legend represent the tears of a sheared and a princess who shared a forbidden love. Whether the tale holds true or not, driving the edge of the volcano showcased some of the most dramatic views on the island of São Miguel.

So I'm glad I got to take this one of you looking out over an ancient city of knowledge, democracy and freedom.
The world really is your oyster and I hope you know you can claim it at any time.
Jibhi is a small village on the banks of Tirthan river, a tributary of Beas. Though it has gained some popularity among the travellers in recent years but it is still quite untouched and peaceful
All you can hear is the sound of rivers and streams flowing all around and all you see is lush green mountains traditional himachali homes
Jibhi waterfall is a beautiful waterfall and even more beautiful is this path full of small streams and wooden bridges leading to the waterfall. I could not resist getting a picture clicked here 😃
If you are looking for a tranquil and relaxing getaway from the chaotic city life...guys JIBHI is the place for you

.... dreaming of that day in Puglia 2 1/2 weeks ago at the #castellodigallipoli ...
'Gallipoli' means 'beautiful city' in greek. And greek influences there are galore. You're treading a greacian path all over Puglia.
Gallipoli became hugely important through its subterranean oil mills and olive oil trade - it's the 'città dell'olio'. In fact it was the historic centre of that trade, providing Europe with its demand for lighting fuel. Developed from that was raw material for soap, famously used in France's soap making. And only finally - olive oil.... .
