(Day 191-194 Athens #roundtheworldtrip ) On the 9th of July we flew with Wizz Air from Vienna to Athens. Three days before we booked the tickets and 2 days before we applied for the QR code for entering the country. As easy as it sounds!
During the last weeks I was reading in some FB groups about the process for entering Greece and to be honest, I don't understand the panic and frustration around it. If you don't want to pay for the covid-19 tets you have to fly. On arrival they will decide if you are going to be tested or not - for free!!! Greece has, in my opinion, the best re-opening and checking system during this corona-summer. *But haters gonna hate*
We were traveling from Myanmar to Vienna and than to Greece with our friend Lukasz who we met in Inle Lake and spent the last months together. As we arrived in Athens, he was picked for testing (I guess they choose 1 person per group) - some 20 minutes later he was ready with the testing and we were good to go!
We picked the rental car and drove to our Airbnb appartment. The time we spent in Athens was very lazy. We were sleeping long. We were drinking Greek coffee and eating Greek salad. Of course we did the mandatory tour around Athens and again - we visited one very touristic place without tourists... this will be the whole year of 2020.
So grandly conceived, so beautifully proportioned, so chastely embellished, and so exquisitely finished 🤍
The detailing on the Minar is mesmerising that one can spend hours admiring the architecture.
