Execução na Guerra do Vietnã em 1968.// Ejecución en la guerra de Vietnam en 1968.// Execution in the Vietnam War in 1968.

Cat Ba Island, Vietnam, 2015. The hungover clamber to the top of this karst cliff in the blazing heat with @abi.sohal nearly killed me, but on a grey day in Glasgow I am pining for this view. And the company, of course. #travel#vietnam

Your #international markets are waiting. Discover global opportunities with FAO Global. Our advisors will help you refine your strategies, connect you with strategic partners, and understand local characteristics of #global markets.
The reason why most people decide to go to Cat Ba island is for the Lan Ha bay, which is the alternative to Ha Long bay. But if you stay few days on this island, you can discover other landscapes on the nature and always observe these famous kharstic hills
So, none of us have able to travel but it doesn't mean we can't look back and enjoy our old travel destinations. During lockdown I have shared memories and photographs from loads of our fabulous adventures around the World. This trip will be our LAST #COVID19#digitalholidays .
For this trip, our 15th and last, we are going on back to our last adventure – a north to south journey of #Vietnam in #southeastasia . It will be hot and humid all the time, but we will see a variety of things this place has to offer including bustling cities, market, beaches, islands, nature, ruins, wildlife, food and culture. All in our 16 day trip from #Hanoi in the north to #Saigon in the South.
We’ll leave Hanoi and head on a tourist bus towards #catba Island, our destination for the next few days and base for seeing the famous #halongbay and neighbouring #lanhabay (which I preferred). We’ll see amazing scenes exploring the water in our Junk Boat via #catbaventures , gliding through the fabulous karsts, as well as getting the opportunity to kayak and swim – avoiding some plastic though which is one of the big disappoints of this beautiful place.
We’ll also get ourselves a moped for some land discovery and it will prove to be a great way to see the quieter sides of this lovely island as well as give us the opportunity to climb the karsts in the centre of the island at #catbanationalpark .

Halong Bay, Vietnam is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular travel destination inVietnam. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various shapes and sizes. ▪ Phú Quốc is a Vietnamese island off the coast of Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand. It's known for white-sand beaches and resorts, most of which are along the palm-lined southwest coast. More than half of the island is part of Phú Quốc National Park, which features mountains, dense tropical jungle, hiking trails, and wildlife. The Golden Bridge (Vietnamese: Cầu Vàng) is a 150-metre (490 ft) long pedestrian bridge in the Bà Nà Hills resort, near Da Nang, Vietnam.
It is designed to connect the cable car station with the gardens (avoiding a steep incline) and to provide a scenic overlook and tourist attraction.
The bridge loops nearly back around to itself, and has two giant stone hands designed to appear to support the structure.
The views are truly amazing 😍

Baby guide for planning your trip to Phong Nha *save for later*
🚌 How to get there 🚌
Phong Nha is in central Vietnam (5hrs north of Hue). It’s easiest to fly into Dong Hoi airport and arrange a pick up via your accommodation (~400k). There’s also a public bus (route B4) that goes past the airport which is insanely cheap, but takes longer.
🛏 Where to stay 🛏
I’ve stayed in a bunch of different spots:
• Nguyen Shack has cool accommodation
• Linhs homestay is in the heart of town
• Easy tiger is super social
• The river is perfect for relaxing (but you’ll need a motorbike)
🗺 What to do 🗺
To explore you’ll need to book a tour or rent a motorbike and drive yourself (150k/day).
• Explore the caves - Phong Nha Cave, Paradise Cave and Dark Cave can all be visited without a tour (but you’ll need a motorbike)
• Do the zip line experience into Dark Cave
• Book a trek to see some of the hidden and most impressive caves in the region (but also in the world) - I’ve done two day trips with @junglebosstours and highly recommended them, or the other main tour provider is oxalis who go to the worlds largest cave, Hang Son Doong
• Drive the national park loop (take the local shortcut with boat ride and bridges)
• Visit duck stop for a giggle
• Get social at Easy tiger bar (they’re closed for reno but will be open back soon I’m sure)
• Explore the botanic gardens and find the waterfall at the end of the trail
🎒 What to pack 🎒
• Hiking attire if you plan to do a trek (you get boots as part of your tour so you don’t need your own).
• If you don’t plan on trekking then regular clothes are fine for exploring the caves (comfy shoes though).
• Lots of sunscreen and mosquito repellent #nature
⏰ When to visit ⏰
My favourite time to visit Phong Nha is in the spring or summer, thanks to warm temps and little rain. Avoid October as most of the caves are closed from monsoon rain. Winter get chilly!
Throw any tips or Qs below! #phongnha
