Thanks for the memories NYC. After 5 years of calling this beautiful, crazy city home - we are finally moving! Given everything that’s been happening in the world, we thought it might be a good time for us to find roots in other places. New York is amazing, but it’s also hectic, overwhelming, and expensive. This was the final push we needed to explore other places and see if there is a location we might want to call home in the long term. The first step we are taking is doing a cross country road trip and exploring some new cities! (I haven’t driven in 9 years, wish me luck lol)
To celebrate us making the big move, I can think of nothing better to summarize my time in the city than a compilation of good nyc slices. 🍕 💕 Adieu for now NYC (and who knows, we might miss it so much we just swing right around and come right back lol)

On a very different 4th of July, sharing a quote from one of my very favorite people:
“We, the People, recognize that we have responsibilities as well as rights; that our destinies are bound together; that a freedom which only asks what's in it for me, a freedom without a commitment to others, a freedom without love or charity or duty or patriotism, is unworthy of our founding ideals, and those who died in their defense." — Barack Obama
Remember to never stop fighting until we are ALL free. Only then can we truly celebrate. ❤️🤍💙 #equalityforall#freedomforall#fightforjustice#barackobama#inspirationalquotes
Have you ever ridden a camel or met one in real life? They are truly modern day dinosaurs and that second photo is how I truly feel about them.

This time last year we were at @craterlakenational park, staring in awe at the bluest, clearest, deepest body of water I’ve ever seen. We hiked down to the shore and sat on some rocks, watching as a fellow hiker proceeded to strip down to an American flag bikini, psyche herself up and eventually jump off a rock into the (freezing) lake below, while her man/friend filmed it.
Anyway, National Parks are amazing, road trips are mini adventures, I miss both, and I look forward to being able to experience them again at some point.
Happy Fourth of July from #newyorkcity !🎆 @mr.lighttravelsfaster and I may be two Canadians in New York but we sure do love living here in the city of dreams!🗽Despite all the trials and tribulations of the past months there’s still no place we’d rather be and no place with greater opportunities than here in the Big Apple.🍎 How are you celebrating this day? 📣 #fourthofjuly#independenceday

It's easy to love something that gives you everything you want. It's difficult to love something that constantly tries and breaks your heart.
In any other relationship, you'd call that toxic. You'd probably advise someone to leave and never see that person again. But what happens if that relationship is with a country? Your home?
Patriotism is easy if the country was set up to benefit and protect YOU. Patriotism is difficult when you're constantly fighting for your country to DO BETTER.
Today, I'm thinking of EVERY single person who is fighting for JUSTICE, EQUALITY, and for the United States to BE BETTER AND DO BETTER.
Loving something unconditionally is to push it to improve despite how many times it has let you down.
To every American and immigrant who is fighting SYSTEMIC RACISM, who are working tirelessly and putting yourself at risk to save LIVES during a pandemic, who are putting COMMUNITY before YOURSELF and doing what's right to protect one another, who are proud of diversity and not afraid of it... YOU are and will always be the reason why I love this country.

Mas quando se trata de mim, eu não gostaria de ser mais ninguém.🤩
No, I didn’t make a mistake editing this photo. This church tower really is leaning this much.
It’s the Oude Kerk (Old Church) in Delft where the painter Johannes Vermeer was buried in 1675. The church is also known as ‘Crooked John’ because its tower is almost 2 meters off centre. Not quite the Tower of Pisa yet, but still.... it always makes me a bit nervous 😅.

I am absolutely, definitely, positively, unquestionably, no strings attached, beyond any doubt, unconditionally, in love with you. ❤️💍🌻
