I am happy to announce that after a very long year out of the studio, I'm back! I've made a piece for the Wine Box Show at Jessel Gallery in Napa in October, comprised of artwork on wine boxes donated by Signorello Vineyards, which burned to the ground in the 2017 fires.
My Signorello wine box piece, entitled "Hang On," was inspired by two events: the Napa Valley fires of 2017, which burned down the Signorello Winery; and more globally by climate change, which has contributed to creating conditions that lead to such catastrophic fires. I chose to deconstruct the wine box itself and place the Signorello name and logo on the underside of the piece, to represent the destruction of the Signorello Winery structure, but the remaining strength of the Signorello Family to rise up from the blank ground. The art work built onto the structure of the box is centered around a small cube. The cube (or hexahedron) is one of the 5 Platonic Solids, and the one that Plato postulated represented Earth. Because of global warming and climate change, the Earth here hangs by a thread. It, we, and the Signorello Family and Winery must all "Hang On" and rise up. @jesselmiller@signorelloestate#monotype#printmaking#abstractart#geometricart#platonicsolids#napastrong

I love the color blue. It's literally my favorite color. I wanted to experiment and create a deconstructed landscape with Blue Sand. And with Angels I played with the various blues, texture and angels.

You've been here before. You can't remember when, you can't remember why, but you can sense the familiarity. Nostalgia for the details. A fine mist in the air, not a sound to be heard, and it was always night. Vanished from your memory when you are away, an overwhelming flashback when you return. A cliffside for your front porch, marveling at a blurred distortion of ocean and mountains. You know you will have to leave soon, but you know that you'll be back.
Interactive sound and painting acting in concert to create a living being, resonant and reactive. Art is a personal experience that invites us into a world that is new investigation of that which is already deeply our own. Delving into the planes of existence, furthering our understanding of the many-faceted elements of life.
