My pouty post bath face 🐶 Just 1.5 days until I'm home! Mom and Dad said they are going to play with me in the yard, introduce me to my cat siblings and then have a Christmas movie marathon and snuggle me by the fireplace on my first night home. What's your favorite Christmas movie? I haven't seen any yet 😜
I am convinced that the only thing in this girls mind is food. Anything I say to her, she will think I’m talking about food. She even gets strangers to give her their dog treats at the dog park and one time at the pet store, she got this sweet lady to buy her a chew stick. I’m pretty sure she thinks she has mind control over all of us 😂
That being said, I’ve been wanting a tracker for so long and I’ve been really happy with the @surepetcare Animo tracker. Not only does it track Rosie’s activity but it also monitor her behavior to let you know if anything is out of the ordinary. It has been really helpful for me to maintain her ideal weight since that is something we struggle with. The Animo collects Rosie’s data to provide a guideline for her daily activity and calorie goal. Since using it, this has been the most consistent her weight has ever been!
Dogs and sticks. A love story.
But why do dogs love sticks? Im sure there is a bit of variance from dog to dog but there is a general answer.
When dogs live on their own in the wild, they will eat meat and bones of animals they find or hunt. Bones are incredibly nutrient rich and bone marrow can provide a scavenger or hunter many necessary nutrients. Chewing on bones for fun or for food has many benefits making it a habit and instinct to be passed down.
Now, for our domestic dogs, bones are not always readily available but the instinct lives on! What is often readily available for them to chew? Sticks.
Sticks are not bones but they do have an earthy smell and many dogs are innately attracted to them, the same way they are innately attracted to bones.
So, when your dog is chewing on a stick, they are acting out a born instinct!
Beautiful Lucinda, derping on mountaintops since 2013. If y'all have any collar and/or leash brands that you love and are super durable, drop em in the comments or our DMs, we're looking for something more photographable when we upgrade in the next couple months! And if not, have an amazing weekend anyway!

Corgmas tree in disguise...Day 13 and no one is suspicious just yet 🙊.
"Dear Santa, I have been very good for the last week... so let's focus on that..😇" - Aspen, definitely
Real talk though, are you on the naughty or nice list this year? Or better yet, hands up if you're on the 'neautral' list 🤪

A dog’s whole life is centered around its human companion. They are bred to be with humans. We are their stewards. They give love endlessly with little expectation of anything in return. It’s this witness of selflessness that makes an illness to an animal so hard to handle. Watching this very innocent creature endure so much already with this heart, and now with his brain, is tough to deal with. Knowing that he’s touched other people’s lives enough that for you all to donate and send kind messages is very up lifting. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
As we wait to hear the results from his scan here are a few of our favorite photos of him. If you have an animal squeeze them extra hard tonight.
On Dec 4th and 5th Finnley suffered two seizures that now require him to have an MRI and a spinal tap procedure. This comes at a large cost and ,therefore, are asking friends, family and dog lovers to help us raise the funds to cover this medical expense. Visit the link in the bio to get more information. Thank you 🙏 🐶❤️🤕

It would not feel like Thanksgiving if I, Penny's human, didn't share how grateful I am for this girl right here.
This girl has done more for me than any antidepressant medication could have. She's pulled me back to earth so many times when I likely would have been carried away and swallowed by some of my toughest experiences with which I have yet to come to peace. She has inspired me to keep taking the seemingly mundane but necessary daily steps that emotional numbness or exhaustion would otherwise have prevented. So often, she has made me smile when I otherwise wouldn't have. She has motivated me to calm my mind, breathing, and voice at times I probably otherwise wouldn't have. She's forced me to be more aware of how I am, and commit more to how I want to be. •
I have no idea how much a dog knows about what they are doing, or how wise or altruistic their motives are. Or whether their instincts are easily tapped into by a higher power. But so often this girl has done for me exactly what I needed in my tiny but seemingly giant moments of sadness or anxiety. Reminding me to trust a little more in a universe infinitely beyond me but still so intimately apart of me.

Running towards this weekend like... ✌️

Flashback to when it was snowing. It seems like just yesterday--the seasons move so fast sometimes, it's hard to fully appreciate them until they're past! "It's like life!" I love snow just about as much as I love sand... playing in it, eating it, laying in it... The snow sticks to my fur and turns into huge snowball dingleberries though, so I wear these nifty booties and soft fleece leg warmers to keep the snowballs from growing all over my legs. ❄️❄️❄️

Sometimes our destinations look more like beginnings, and our beginnings don't look like much of anything at all. But it's worth it guys. The sun comes out, the water calms, the blue skies unveil themselves, and you remember that it's all okay and worth it. You may not know what's around the next bend, but just go along with it--be it deep, rocky, wild, calm--it's beautifully ever-changing and it'll be worth it. 🌤️🌤️🌤️

While you humans are indulging in your mountains of chocolate, I'll just indulge in this actual mountain of mother nature.
Mountains have a way of making humans feel both small and inspired at the same time. They don't just put size into perspective, but life as well. Trivial things are seen for what they are, and what's important becomes clearer. And suddenly that clarity turns into motivation, and daunting things don't seem so daunting anymore. Maybe that's what true humility feels like--feeling small and yet inspired and empowered to work a little more towards something pure and grand. •
With spring time, Passover, Easter, and Earth Day tomorrow, it feels like everyone is celebrating that humble feeling together this weekend! Rebirth, new beginnings, freedom from slavery and death, purity, the gift and beauty of this earth, the immense value and impact that little acts have in our lives and on our planet. And ultimately, our power to plow through our winters and summit mountains in spite of how small we often feel. What a wonderful feeling to celebrate! •
What is something you associate with the holidays, that isn’t necessarily related to Christmas?
For me, it’s Harry Potter. I always re-read the entire series at some point in the year, but I love watching the movies in December. I don’t know if it’s because of the scenery, but they’ve always given me Holiday vibes, and they put me in such a good mood.

Hello to our most favorite season of all
Winter is here in full force - Avalanche danger is deemed to be a possible level four according to @friendsofcaic as all of Colorado is expected to get up to two feet+ of snowfall this weekend ☃️ stay safe out there and only explore into the backcountry if you have the knowledge and skills to do so. Be sure to travel with avy gear! You can find us in the front range or at the ski resorts until the snowpack presents less of a risk for hiking in the high country again.
