Erster Biss: wir waren auf dem Weg zum Spielplatzstrand. Also ein Spielplatz am Wasser. Das Rutschauto haben wir von der Bibliothek ausgeliehen 😍
Meistens verbringen die Kinder die ganze Zeit aber im Wasser. So auch dieses Mal. Nach dem Baden saßen wir an der Wasserkanne und haben mit Sand gespielt. Bis die Grosse auf einmal aufgesprungen ist und geschrieben hat wie am Spieß! Ich konnte kein Tier an der Stelle erkennen und auf den ersten Blick auch keine Bisspurr. Also schnell kühlen, mit Meerwasser. Neben uns waren paar Sportler im Training, diese habe ich angesprochen ob sie wissen was es sein könnte. Sie schauten sich die Bisspur an und sagten, dass es nicht nach was Lebensgefährlichen aussieht... 🙉
In Australien weiß man das ja nicht ..😳
Das Kind schrie aber immer noch .. also ab in den Bollerwagen, schnell nach Hause. Da haben wir die Stelle mit warmen Wasser abgespült - so die meisten Tipps im Internet - dann gekühlt. Zum Glück wurde es besser. Aber morgen fragen wir den Rettungsschwimmer am Strand was es sein konnte. Und an dem Strand geht die Kleine nur noch mit längerer Badehose baden. 😬😅
Haben wohl dieses Mal Glück gehabt ;-)

Autumn is coming to a close and the sycamores have dropped many of their large leaves covering the Earth below. Their seeds hang like ornaments hovering above the fairy houses built below. A red tailed hawk cries out in the distance and a mole peeks out from its burrow to shuffle around the soil at the entrance of his home. We watch as another leaf falls to our feet and join the wind’s whispers so as not to scare the animals. Mushrooms burst from the Earth stopping us in our tracks and much like all the wild- slow us down. 🍄

🔹location is everything!! Walking distance to Times Square, Broadway, Central Park and @thehalalguys 🔹when we were there this past weekend, they had tons of kids activities - letters to Santa, face painting and balloons

We LOVED the boat trip through Trang An in Ninh Binh. The scenery is just out of this world. You go through tiny caves to find temples and lakes in the middle of mountains, it was just beautiful. And no one fell in 👍👍😆Videos are up on stories ❤️

Feeling as happy as this happy hot chocolate right now, as we snuggle into our plushy hotel pillows, awaiting a quick dash to the airport in the morning 🧳
The girls have had a swim in the pool and we’ve eaten dinner from under cloches (yummy vegan tacos!) on the big comfy bed 🛌
Really recommend the @sandmansignaturelgw if you’re flying from Gatwick - it’s been such a smooth process and we have a very comfortable room. We love sleeping all together as a family ☺️ The girls get so excited about the smallest of things, like just being in a room all together for 12 hours... which reminds me that all they really need is to be making memories ❤️

We loved the entry “bridge” into the Thai-Indian restaurant at Sofitel Krabi, and the friendly hostess was happy to snap a few photos on it for us after warning us of the step up. Fast forward a couple of nights later when we dined there again and I missed the step. My knee is still banged up two weeks later, but it is serving as a nice little souvenir from our amazing Thai vacation! .

Ich habe gestern zum ersten Mal Riffhaie gesehen und gemütlich schwimmende Schildkröten, sowie Fischschwärme in allen Farben und Größen.
Für Maxi war es das zweite Schnorchel-Abenteuer. Während er letztes Jahr die Fische lieber von oben beobachtet hat, hat es diesmal schon super geklappt mit dem Atmen durch den Schnorchel und er fand es mega spannend.

I think we should stop thinking of childhood as a means to an end. As just a necessary part of life that happens before real life begins.
Children are not pre-adults.
They don’t exist just to prepare for adulthood.
They exist to be children.
When we get older, we finally realize the value of living in the now. We encourage each other to enjoy every moment. We write books and pen poems and compose songs and take classes about being present and mindful.
We remind one another to notice the seasons, smell the flowers, feel the wind, commune with the creatures.
Some of us even wish to recapture our youth.
Yet we often teach our children to spend most of their childhood focused on preparing to not be children anymore.
We tell them to hurry.
When all we really long to do is find a way to
Just. Slow. Down.
I think we should be teaching them notice the seasons while the spinning of the earth still seems slow, smell the flowers while kneeling beside them is still effortless, feel the wind on unwrinkled cheeks, commune with the creatures while they still believe that the creatures understand.

As we have been traveling around, the kids have been longing to jump in the water. And since the temperatures are still fairly warm down South, they were so excited to take a swim in the ocean.🌊 The temps have been in the upper 70s/ lower 80s.☀️ But we have noticed there has been a considerable amount of snow❄️ in some of the Northern states.

Catching up on some of our previous weekend trips! This was one of my favorite “hotels” we have stayed in! Yup a treehouse with a bathroom!!! It never occurred to me that it wouldn’t have a toilet till right before we walked in! Garden Village Lake Bled. That natural pool next to the restaurant was amazing! First time we have swam with fish in a pool. There might have been a few tadpoles and 🐸 too!

'Is the universe telling us not to go back?'. This is what we asked ourselves at the end of the day of travel to get back to our car. Here's why...

We arrived at the Virgin check-in and were told we weren't allowed to fly because we didn't have a return ticket. But we are driving out of Indonesia. After more than 45 mins of arguing, where everyone behind the desk told us it was not their problem, we had to spend $75 on tickets for a ferry from Indonesia to Singapore that we will throw in the bin. Then all but one of our bags had to go to oversize (it is important to note that the only bag that went through main check-in is the one with everything we need; clothes, nappies, toiletries).

We rushed through security and customs. But then just as we finished having our passports checked and walked through we noticed that the name on my boarding pass didn't match the one on my passport (autofill had put my maiden name in) and so we had to find someone who could print me a new one. They were pretty shocked that I had managed to both check-in and go through customs with mismatched documents. We checked the visa requirements and got $US35 each to buy our visa on arrival in Indonesia.

Then 6 hours on the plane with a two year old. .
We arrived only to discover that the cost of a visa had gone up by $US2 so we were $6 short. We then stood for another hour waiting for one missing bag. Yep, that's right, the one bag I had strategically packed with everything we need was missing. I guess we will be sleeping in our clothes tonight. Thanks #virginairways

#AD Stays at @yotel Gatwick before a morning flight are THE BEST! No tiring 3am wake up or stressful drive to the airport but instead some cosy extra sleep before stepping out of the coolest hotel right into @gatwickairport departures 🙌🏻 Every time we stay here our trips are completely stress free and unrushed and that makes a whole world of difference when travelling with little explorers. Plus it means we get to start the holiday a day early and as you can see from Evie’s face she was very happy about this! Swipe to see her excited face at being given a free morning coffee (i.e. warm milk) like a big girl! 👉🏻

Night one in a hotel. This is our life for the next week or so as we take this crew back to the east coast. Our house is now a maze of boxes which randomly moo and bark thanks to all of our sound puzzles. We will be calling temporary lodging on base “home” for the next two nights as the movers finish doing their thing.
Jude’s reaction to all the boxes: he couldn’t stop giggling with excitement.
Declan’s reaction: he burst into tears when he realized Minecraft was packed. Reality hit him big time, poor kid.
And I don’t think Connor has noticed yet
Im sad to leave behind the life we have made for ourselves but having my family all cooped up and close makes my heart so happy. That may change by the end of this trip but so far I’m snuggling these guys close as we navigate yet another adventure.
