I am taking a short break from posting travel photos and videos. In the last four months I’ve had the privilege of traveling to five countries and sampling their cuisine. The evidence is starting to show on my chin and around my waist! 😂 A total of 16 lbs gained. 😬 It’s time to hit the gym! But don’t expect ripped muscular Alain glamour photos in this lifetime! I am doing the gym just to be healthy. 😉
16 lbs gained but I have no regrets. In the past four months I’ve had the great experience of sharing apfesltrudels and shnitzels (Austria), bryndzové halušky (Slovakia), pierogis (Poland), falafel (Jordan), fritas and arroz con pollo (Cuba) with fellow travellers and the many locals that I met and have since become my friends. I’ve also made friends with some of you who have shared my experiences by communicating with me on Instagram. In fact, my next planned trips were driven by you! Sevilla (!), Rio de Janeiro, and... Bucharest?! 😊
Things have been good. So tonight I just want to pause and say, THANK YOU to the universe, and to YOU who is reading this right now. ♥️ Live. Love. Breathe. It’s a beautiful 🌎! ⠀
As promised here is the video of our Havana bike tour. It’s missing a lot of the city’s points of interest and the landmarks that I saw because I had to condense four hours of footage into less than four minutes of video. However, you can still see how beautiful Havana is! I am glad I did this bike tour even if it meant I was under the sun for four hours (a surefire way to get sunburned and look like a tomato 🍅 at the end of the day)! It was a geeat way to experience the city and say ¡Hola! to many Cubans who were going about their day.
Your moment of zen for this Friday morning. Can we just start the weekend now? There are so many places we want to explore!
Where are you headed this weekend? Have any fun plans?

I am standing just behind the “Monumento a las victimas del Maine” right now. The monument was built in 1925 in honour of the American sailors who died in the explosion of USS Maine in 1898. How times change. If you follow US politics, you know that it hasn’t been in good terms with Cuba for some time now. A metaphor for life? One day the best of friends, another day the worst of enemies. But enough of that. Right now you are looking at the North Atlantic Ocean and my sunburned face (after two hours of cycling under the sun). I’ll share a video of the bike ride later, okay my friends? I would have completed 4 hours of city cycling by then so don’t be shocked if you see me looking like a ripe tomato. ⠀
We are going to hop on our bikes and cycle around Havana. I think it is one of the best ways to see the inner city. I have not been on a bike for a long time. Let’s see how I do with this 4-hour city cycling tour. I will post some photos and videos later. For now, I just want to say happy Friday everyone!
📍U Bein Bridge. 🇪🇸 Se construyó en 1850, mide 1.2km y se cree que es el puente de madera teca más antiguo del mundo.
🇬🇧 It was built in 1850, it’s 1.2km long and it is meant to be the oldest teak wood bridge on Earth.
Did you know that you can spend the night at Otočec Castle? 🏰 You'll be enjoying yourself like a royal at this only island castle in Slovenia. Take a walk in the 200-year old park, explore the indigenous and exotic tree species growing in it and savour the delicious food prepared in its world-class restaurant. You'll be even able to wake up to a magical view of the swans on the banks of the green River Krka. 🦢
