“Carbon Neutral Kindergarten” to connect the earth to the next generation
There is a kindergarten named “Albert Park Kinder” in the City of Port Phillip, Melbourne, Australia. The school is operated under the policy that “young children learn so much about social standards, respect, imagination and problem-solving through play” and offers a high level of service which has been awarded the “EXCELLENT” rating by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). This kindergarten has been certified as Australia’s first “carbon neutral kindergarten” that does not produce CO2 emissions at all.

Corymbia ficifolia, commonly known as the red flowering gum, Albany red flowering gum and the Albany redgum, is one of the most commonly planted ornamental trees in the broader eucalyptus family. The species was previously known as Eucalyptus ficifolia until re-classified in 1995.
Corymbia ficifolia is a small to medium-sized tree which grows to a height of 10 metres (33 ft), often with a pronounced straggly habit. The bark of the tree is rough to the small bramches, fibrous and longitudinally furrowed, and of brown to grey-brown in colour.
The adult leaves are flat or slightly undulating of ovate or broadly lanceolate shape, stalked with a dark green upper surface and lighter underneath, and 7 to 15 centimetres (2.8 to 5.9 in) long by 2 to 5 centimetres (0.79 to 1.97 in) wide. The leaves have a prominent mid-rib and fine, closely spaced side veins lying greater than 45° to the mid-rib. Leaves are usually positioned alternately (staggered) along the tree's branchlets.
Inflorescence is located at the ends of the branchlets, and form characteristic corymbs of compound flower "heads", typically of 7 buds per umbel. Mature buds are obovoid to pear-shaped and 1.2 to 1.8 centimetres (0.47 to 0.71 in) long by 0.6 to 0.8 centimetres (0.24 to 0.31 in) wide. The flowers are brilliant in colour, ranging from pink to orange to bright red, and occasionally cream. The large amount of blossom produced can completely obscure the foliage in summer.
The fruit (gum nuts) are large, woody and urn-shaped, 2 to 4.2 centimetres (0.79 to 1.65 in) long by 1.8 to 3 centimetres (0.71 to 1.18 in) wide. At the end of the fruit are 3 (rarely 4) valves, deeply enclosed within the large opening.
The name Corymbia ficifolia has its origin in Latin: fici, of figs, and folium, leaf, and refers to the leaf shape resembling that of the genus Ficus.

Over the years, Albert Park was used as a tip, a camp for armed services and as a hunting ground apparently. I remember about 20-25 years ago it was drained to clean up rubbish, debris and weeds that accumulated over the years.
It still feels weird driving through the cast iron gates entry from Clarendon Street but the view speaks for itself.
Melbourne is famous for coffee.(more famous than Wellington) Luckily, I have two barista friends in Melbourne. They are Aimee and Puti. I went their cafe to try their coffee and their flatwhite was really good.👍 We went to Albert park near the cafe. I would say it is my favorite park in Melbourne so far. So calm and peaceful park. I lay on the grass and looked at the sky for a long time.😍 #Workingholiday2#Australia#Melbourne#coffeecity#melbournecafe#8milescafe#philocoffee #☕♥ #baristas#friends#Aimee#Puti#albertpark#goodweather

Brooke & Jeff ♡ A magical moment captured in our beautiful backyard, with a backdrop of Albert Park Lake. All within 3km of Melbourne's CBD.
When the architecture and interior design of a house are done in conjunction with the one another, a harmony between the two disciplines informs the design to create a new dynamic expression.⠀
As part of our interior design offering, we will often design individual pieces of furniture that fill a particular need which is not available in the market place, or that may need to be a specific size or material. Today’s post shows the Elm Slab Table that we had specially made for the St Vincents Place Residence in Albert Park. The decision was made not to purchase a brand name piece of furniture to avoid any preconceived associations to the space. ⠀
The house is a series of experiences based around a collection of objects that each have a relationship with each other. ⠀
The slabs of Elm for the 3.5-metre table were sourced from Rob Scott who specialises in rare tree salvage. The large pieces still had bark on their outer edges which was carefully removed and then polished until smooth while retaining the natural texture. The slabs were milled and joined with bronze butterfly wedges, while the ends were cut roughly with a chain saw and burnt. The timber was wire brushed and then bleached white before being stained with a series of subtle colours to give it the beautiful finish courtesy of Ray Wolf at Hawthorn Furniture Polishers who does all of our polishing work.⠀
The table is part of the tapestry of the house's collection of beautiful objects. It is the highly skilled trades we work with that make these items a reality.⠀
