Extra thankful I ended up getting to see the Alhambra because by all accounts, it shouldn’t have worked out!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Seeing that Saturday was sold out on the world heritage site, I looked outwards to 3rd party vendors, thinking a company tour of the palace might not be so bad considering the other option is just to not go - which is really not an option at all.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So there we were, waiting for the tour to start, when they announce that it’s only a tour of the outside of the palace, AKA all of the free parts... and they charged 3x the price of an entrance ticket.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve never been scammed before this but it sure sucked. I felt so guilty for not catching the tricky wording on the website. It felt like I ruined the main attraction, something we might not ever get the chance to see again.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Luckily, upon explaining this to an employee, she was super helpful in getting us afternoon tickets for Sunday and we were able to change our bus tickets for home and leave our bags at the Airbnb. What a relief!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My takeaway: always purchase from the source. Have you ever been scammed before? Whats your story? 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Detail pics from inside the truly awesome Alhambra - a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most spectacular places I have ever visited. Spent five hours exploring the palace, its fort, the summer estate and its gardens. Construction began in 1238. When it was completed nearly a century later, the Alhambra became the official palace compound for Muslim emirs. Nasrid artisans created extraordinary plaster/stucco work with geometric plant and flower motifs, carving them with chisels and other pointed tools. They chose plaster because of its pliability. The repetition of these designs was meant to interpret nature’s most beautiful aspects in a harmonious way. ❤️🧡💛

Everything is so geometrical, I realize how crooked my photography skills are!
My #inktober2019#bestnine most liked posts. Pretty much the same ones I would have chosen too! Thank you @manuel_martinez_vela for your wonderful book; it feels like an old friend now 🧡
Feels so strange to have my evenings back again. Missing my geometric adventure - I learnt so much: new techniques for outlining and inlining; how to interlace using a lettering guide (wow, SO much easier!); and little tips and tricks to improve my accuracy, including investing in a small magnifying glass, using a gridded quilting ruler to check lines are parallel, and using a hard lead (and keeping it sharp!). Still lots to learn, but it was so satisfying to see an improvement over the course of the month.
Need a new challenge now! What other artists’ hashtag projects are there? I know of the #100day ones, but not sure I’m up to one of those yet! 😂
