TAIPEI, TAIWAN 🇹🇼 Taipei is the capital of the Republic of China (not China...yeah I know it s confusing). It has 2.5 millions inhabitants and is the most liberal city of South East Asia. It is one of the cleanest and greenest capital of the continent, civic centric, deeply shaped by its tumultuous history.
It is accesorily one of my fav. City ever!
First inhabited by the ketalagan autochtones , TaiPei which means " Nord of Taiwan " in Chinese , has known huge waves of Han Chinese immigrants before been acquired by the Japanese Empire in 1895 (Treaty of Shimonoseki, ending the first sino-japanese war), before being giving back by the USA to the Republic of China government, who has fled mainland China 's Mao Communist party . You still follow? 😅This extraordinary mix between Chinese and Japanese culture has litterlaly shaped a strong and unique Taiwanese identity, visible everywhere in the city , from their food to the architecture of their monuments.
Beyond the amazing food, what strikes the most the visitor is how green and tourist-friendly is the city and its population. Grab a bicycle and drive on its flat roads all the way up and down while popping up on the different spot which marked Tawian history. Any Taiwanese would love to advise you where to eat and what to do in the area.
From Hiking to shopping, from museum to cultural center , Taipei has it all.
If you add one of the most vibrant coffee scene of Asia ☕ and the fact it s it totally Vegetarian friendly ☘️🍉🌮, haha how could I resist ? I ❤️ Taipei !
