Göstas sis, Ms Blomman, here... Last week has been tough 💔... Missing my bro’... 💔... Give us a couple of more days... and we’ll soon have this account filled with beautiful, happy pics again... Lots of slobbery love to you all❤️😘...
We started to train toothbrushing 😊 Let me start by saying I have no idea how to train this. I'm sure there are protocols somewhere, but we followed those with muzzle training and we've been stuck at the same step for a while now (going to let that rest for now and start over in a few months), so I wanted to do this one completely Smokey's way. My only "requirement" was giving her a start button, the chin rest, so she can control when we start and stop. I use my hand as a target, because she likes targeting and I can easily move it around that way to lift her lips. The towel is just so I don't get too much drool on my pants 😂
We have done less than 10 sessions now, I think maybe even just 5? Admittedly, this one was by far the best so far, and my mind is blown by how quickly she is picking this up!
In the second video you can see that at one point I'm really starting to be able to brush. She does opt out, so I need to be more aware and stop a little sooner (but I get so happy when it goes well 😅), but also presses the start button again as soon as she finishes her treats. I'm not sure if I should also reward her opting out, but I do because it's not something she does easily when we're training and usually she only does it when she's completely done, so I want to show her it's ok to take short breaks.
The third video shows her first becoming a bit more uncomfortable, she pauses a bit longer before pressing start again (I should have stopped the session there... Retrospect!) and eventually tells me she's done with the session by sniffing the towel and not going back to a chin rest (also maybe a lip lick, but that could also be from the treats 😉). I tell her we're done, give a last treat and we played a little tug with the towel to finish the session! I'm sure we need a lot of fine-tuning, like me being more aware of my hand as I now sometimes cover her nose which makes it pretty hard for her to breathe 🤦🏼♀️ and also finding a way to get to her molars. But all in all I'm over the moon with how well she's doing! And the best part? She LOVES these type of training sessions. Win-win!
THE TUMORS WERE BENIGN!! His IQ test came back negative 😑
The a/c was out for a week and I just spent that time stuck in the only room with the portable a/c and a 88 pound dog the size of a pony and the IQ of a potato, wearing a satellite dish around his neck.
I have bruises all over my legs. He took chunks out of the molding.
So I made an e-collar out of a pool noodle!
