Drawing Project #3
Watercolour, ink & gouache on arches paper
You might remember my pig-headed woman portrait from last year - after I drew her I’ve been kind of obsessed with the character I created from the original myth. So i decided to do another portrait of her. I hope to one day really think out this character and maybe involve her in some graphic narrative at some point. We shall see, it sounds long from the plans I have! But I think it’s safe to say you will probably see her more in the future.
Also painting this project re-taught me how to blend watercolours! I am so pumped to re-know this skill!

Last night someone asked me what it feels like for me to draw. I think he was expecting me to say "magical" or "electric." I said "tedious." What can I say? It's my own fault if I make detailed drawings 🤷♀️
Here's a first look at my next drawing in the series...getting the symmetry of the ribcage was HANDS DOWN the worst part so far, but I'm on to the honeycomb. Any tips for patience?
Arts & Culture North Sydney is delighted to present an exhibition of short films & photography by local high school students. Students from secondary schools across the north shore participated in this year's 6 week program. The program provides students a unique opportunity to be mentored by industry experts and present their stories in a professional setting to the community. Exhibition runs Saturday and Sunday 23 and 24 November @contact__sheet 60 Atchison Street St Leonards #artsandculturenthsyd#northsydney#arteducation#exhibition#artstudent

A few glimpses at how the debris was used...it is why I was asking about that old homesite a few weeks ago. I gathered it from by the co-op where that old house was torn down. I’m making art inspired by Anselm Kiefer...an artist whose work told a story of rubbish to rubies/trash to treasure by taking post war debris and incorporating it into his masterpieces. Mine are far from masterpieces but this has been a fun (although stressful and tedious as well) project. #artstudent#amatuerartist#learningbydoing#trashtotreasure
Final presentation of our Creative Process Painting works this morning!
I think we all had a bit of a challenge and a journey together this term, it’s been an absolute joy to work with such an amazing class of people. What a solid display of work! 🔥🔥Left to right from top: @siannelliss@shemmaishere@jessikatex@notthebrightestbirds@tinamckzieart and Bec. <3 .

The lace is soft against the skin and doesn't chafe.

Process folio 📚 📖 ☀️ this was one of my favorite assignments this semester. Each major project was assigned vocab/art elements/principals, which we defined and provide visual examples. Couple of my faves, subjective color Green Eggs and Ham, Contoured Avocado, and economized shuttle liftoff #artstudent#denverarts#drawings#igdaily#art#nerd#notes

☽TALLER INICIAL ☾ (description in English in the comment section)
Some of the artists at my school are just too talented!! We had to draw each other in life drawing class and @justacowgirl drew this picture of me in just 5 minutes! ✍️
She's such an incredible artist!
One of the best ways to improve your skills as a student is through the constant study of your subjects. Sometimes short exercises can help you to loosen up and work in a more painterly way.
Here we have these 3 wonderful examples by the Spanish artist, Joaquin Sorolla (Valencia 1863-1923). #swipeleft ▶️▶️🎨
Notice the way the heads are composed, even though Sorolla had to most likely turn the canvas to work in a certain angle, the final composition is seen as a whole harmonious image.
After seeing some other artists participating in #endangeredweek I was inspired to join in! I hope to do at least a few over the next several days. ..................................................................................................Today is about the Pangolin!
There are 8 species of Pangolin shared by Africa and Asia. These ant eaters are unique by their protective plates comprised of keratin. They are currently being illegally poached for trade to meet the growing demand of their meat and scales. These endangered peaceful creatures play an important ecological role, improving the soil quality in their environment by being natural pest control!
Organizations like WWF are currently working against this illegal trade by lobbying for stronger national laws against wildlife crime and by actively trying to reduce the demand for products.
