Pepper’s progress in 1 week showing the before and after. What do you think? I really like that the entire family is involved and I am very impressed with the kid’s quick learning of how to handle the leash and teach pressure/release, as well as when to reward and give Pepper attention! This family listened to and applied everything I instructed them to change and do with this pup and the results speak for themselves.
Buddy is a friendly, loving dog but he lacked self confidence before training. Here we're working on confidence building at the park with picnic tables. Him gaining the confidence to leave his feet and jump on new things isn't only for park benches and tables. It's also the type of work we used to build his confidence jumping in and out of the vehicle. Not having the confidence to jump into the vehicle himself had resulted in him not being able to go places with mom because he's now too big to be picked up.
Confidence building not only gives more opportunities to have fun with you dog, but it could be the difference in extra work that your expected to do.
Pepper just started my puppy program. In addition to the basics, she is also a really big behavior case. She didn’t have the best start in life so we are living and working in the moment. Pepper’s owners were advised by their vet to seek training as she was extremely nervous and fearful at the visit.
I learned that she has had freedom to roam the apartment and she’s very athletic and loves to party and jump around -on her terms-. When she gets to be too much in terms of mouthiness and jumping with the kids she is put away. The kids have also played chase games with her which can contribute to the flight and nervousness as she just wants to get away and hide. She is anxious and unsure around people. She is not comfortable with equipment being put on her and she throws tantrums when she doesn’t want to do something.
When I met Pepper, she was hesitant but would approach right up to me -on her terms-. She loves food but not enough to take it from me when she is nervous. Asking her to do things and follow direction showed a whole different side of her. Her family is committed to helping her, she will need a lot of confidence building and leadership!
My 3 stooges. Each of these dogs are so incredibly different, yet, very similar in lots of ways. They are all high drive, possessive, dominant and challenging dogs BUT they each keep me on my toes and continue pushing me and helping me grow. Anyone that knows each of these dogs and has met them first hand knows how difficult it is to manage one of them, let alone all 3, especially while in drive and during play. I can happily say I have learned more from these 3 dogs than I probably have from hundreds of dogs combined. I've enjoyed our journey thus far and ready for more amazing memories (probably more headaches too). Tag us in your most influential dogs you've worked with and why!
Talk about recall! Gypsy did a bootcamp with us with the goal of reducing ball drive at the park that was getting her into trouble with other pups, as well as developing a strong off-leash recall. It was clearly a success!! We love seeing our pups show off their new found behaviors in real-life applications. Keep it up, Gypsy girl!
