Good morning, here we go with my second set of images taken under the stars and moonlight of early January, after spending a good couple of hours at West Wheal Owles myself and @julie_ann_photography decided we needed to change location and after a bit of discussion we settled on Lanyon Quoit, a beautiful place at anytime but under a moonlit sky it takes on a whole different atmosphere, I was hoping to capture an image of Orion behind the quoit but by the time we arrived Orion was already too high in the sky to make the shot work so instead I concentrated on simply photographing the Quoit with the stars overhead and the glow of the moonlight to illuminate the scene...I am obviously very well aware of the capabilities of modern cameras in low light settings but even I was amazed by the level of detail I was able to capture I was especially pleased that I was able to image the Greenburrow pumping engine house at Ding Dong mine way off behind Lanyon Quoit.
I find that I really enjoy shooting these night scenes and despite the conditions not being what I would have hoped for in recent weeks I’m very much looking forward to the Milky Way season to get out and have a proper go at that....new camera, new adventures.
Attilio inspired shot of Coniston Water, Lake District UK, no where near as good as the images Attilio produces but had great fun taking it having watched and learned from his brilliant videos. #attiliophotoclub
One of my cousins lives in the little village of Auchtermuchty in the northwest corner of Fife, Scotland. You might know it as the home of the folk group The Proclaimers. I’ll remember it for its untouched beautiful buildings that have seen thousands of Scottish sunsets. Captured on film years ago and scanned from a print for this post. #auchtermuchty#villagesunset#solitude#raw_moody#raw_nightshots
Good morning folks, looks like we’re in for another washout weekend if you’re out and about please be careful.
On Wednesday I told you I had something very different for you and indeed I do, todays image is my first attempt at Intentional Camera Movement (or ICM for short) it’s a photographic technique where the camera is moved as the image is being taken in this example I quickly panned the camera as I took the image it’s only a very short movement but one that I thought was quite effective in changing a fairly standard sunset coastal scene into something a but different a bit more creative, I am particularly pleased with this image because it’s a first attempt...not that I plan to do too many of this style.... and also despite the ICM the scene is still very identifiable you can clearly make out the clouds in the sky as well as the shape of the waves as they line up to come ashore and the shape of the surf that’s already broken against the shore and as a major bonus the light looks really good as well....now I’m no expert on ICM so if any of you guys are into this particular style of photography I’d be interested to hear your feedback.
Good morning, with all this miserable wet weather I’m quite relieved that I have a sunset image to bring you today and my first sunset of 2020 at that, I’m sure by now you’ll all recognise the location...it’s Holywell Bay incase anyone doesn’t know....this image came about completely by accident if I’m honest, I was actually out on the beach hoping to access the Holy Well here but unfortunately the tide simply wasn’t low enough to allow me to get close and so instead I decided to wait on the beach to see if the clearing sky would allow some colour but as you can see I got a lot more than just a bit of colour I got the wonderful golden glow of the setting sun and a beautiful reflection on the wet sand while Carters Rocks stand silhouetted against that beautiful winter sky so all in all it proved to have been a fantastic visit to one of my favourite beach’s and I’m very glad I was there to capture this image to share with all of you.
