“I’ve been in the Wilds for a month and a half now, and in that time I’ve almost forgotten about the fences. It’s amazing how close I have been, all this time, to my old life. And yet the distance that divides me from it is vast.” — Lauren Oliver, Pandemonium

The world is not in your books and maps. It’s out there.
Day 14: so there was this really photogenic hole in the ground? .
We drove first to Laguna Cejar but thought the entry fee was too high so we made our way down to the next lagun that we hadn't really planned on visiting. Near the entry to laguna tebiquinche there were two very photogenic holes in the ground just randomly there. Don't know if they are natural or not but today they get the spotlight. And then of course we finally got to Tebiquinche. It has that classic blue water and white salt flat combination that is used to advertise the area. Out of all the other lagoons we've visited, this was the first we hit that actually had that stunning color combination. .
Just goes to show that there is not an abundance of these areas and they must be respected by visitors. Most other lagoons we visited had trash from careless people right near the water line. These are fragile ecosystems that sadly not everyone treats well.
Also made an afternoon stop at the asteroid museum. Highly recommend!

This is a very special trip for me. ✨ .
Seeing Zoe come to Central Java has been a wildly unbelievable experience. Within just a couple days, Zoe already embraced her surroundings and the Jogja people! Here, conditions are more rugged and tourists are few. No smoothie bowls (yet), dayclubs, beach resorts. Just a vibrant people-first culture surrounded with untouched natural beauty. Yet somehow all these islands and provinces somehow make up one united Indonesia. .
Have you considered visiting Indonesia? How about stepping outside Bali and into the major islands like Java and Sumatra? Let us know below!
Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is located at Candikuning Village, 50 kms up north from Denpasar. It’s one of the nine “Kahyangan Jagat Temple”, which are surrounding Bali island, that makes it one of the most important Temple for the balinese, especially for Hindu. It was built in 1634, the architecture is absolutely beautiful, and even if it’s really old, it’s still well preserved. #backpackersqc#backpackersintheworld
ALWAYS FOCUS ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE 🌓!
There are days where everything goes in the wrong way, you just can’t stop to feel negativity around you. We learn from our faults. When this happens to us, we try to stop and start to think 🙏🏽. How can I change my mood? What can I do to get better? How can I act to improve?
Our time in Indonesia started in the baddest way possible; the sand at the black beach broke our drone and we felt like we were supposed to throw away all of our plans for the entire trip. All the drone footages we were dreaming of: gone. We spent an entire night searching for the right solution on blogs but we never found a way that could help us to reverse our drama. Then, we stopped complaining and started for the first time to think quietly. We had to find someone that could help us! 💡
• @balicopter saved one of the best trips of our life! If you are in Bali and have a problem with your drone, he’s the right guy for you!
Which was your worst experience during your travels? 😳
Travel tips 🧭 :
-to move around Bali we suggest you to rent a scooter: cheap, fast enough, fuel costs are a joke and you’re independent 🛵
-if you are staying in Ubud and would love to see a black sand beach, you can’t miss Pantai Masceti
-this isn’t a crowded beach because the sea can be very rough and in that case you will not be allowed to swim 🏊♂️
-if you have a drone with an exposed camera/gimbal like us (for instance MavicAir) and you desire to fly it there, be aware that the black sand is incredibly fine and magnetic. Which means that it could potentially reach vital spaces of your beloved device and knock it out. So, please, don’t fly too close to the sand and make it land on your hands or faraway from the beach
Hi! 👋🏼 We’re Kylie & Scott! We realized we haven’t introduced ourselves in a while so here’s a bit about us! ⬇️
👫 We’ve been married 2.5 years & loveee calling Seattle, USA our home
💻 In 2019 we left our jobs in tech to travel and pursue entrepreneurship full time. Kylie runs our blog & Scott is building an app - both are challenging but we LOVE them!
🌲 We are happiest when we are outdoors and take any chance we get to immerse ourselves in nature
🌎 Our goal is to inspire people to get out & explore, and through our LHTO community we hope to make the world feel a little smaller
📸 Scott takes most of our photos & Kylie does all the photo + video editing
🌮 We LOVE Mexican food & could eat tacos every single day
🌱 Kylie has been veg for over 20 years and Scott recently decided to give it a go. Some days he doesn’t stick to it, but it’s a personal journey & his little changes are adding up
💪🏼 Scott is a gym fanatic and Kylie has a love/hate relationship with it depending on the day lol
👩🏼🏫 Kylie loves to teach - whether she’s teaching young girls to code or making editing tutorials, it brings her so much joy!
💬 We write long captions and we ask questions because we want to truly connect with you, not just through imagery but through words too
If you made it this far, you’re a freaking TROOPER 🤣 anyways, enough about us! We want to learn more about you!
Where are you from?? (Bonus points if you comment a fun fact about yourself so we can get to know you! 😘)
Edited with our @lhto_presets mobile presets pack - before & after + editing tutorial will be posted on @lhto_presets today! 📱

We thought we’d show you our faces for a change...although they might not reflect how we actually felt about this day 🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♀️.
If anyone can make out this bridge through the fog you might recognise it as the infamous Golden Bridge in Ba Na Hills 🤲🏼.
Through fault of our own lack of research this was probably the most disappointing day of our travels so far, despite being one of the things we were most excited to see in Vietnam. Little did we know seeing this bridge costs approx. £25 each and is part of a larger theme park called Sunworld which is a bit of a naff disney (not our thing) ✨.
Even if the weather was perfect & we could see 2 steps in front of us we’d still feel disappointed, this place is completely manmade & built for tourism, not the experience we had imagined (& it was the only reason we came to Da Nang 🥴).
We don’t usually rant as we’re super grateful for all these incredible experiences but just needed to be real about our personal experience on here. Lesson learnt, always do your research! But hey at least we can say we came, we saw & we conquered. We’d love to know who else has been & how they found it?! 🤗
