Blown away in Lithu-up-up-and-uwaynia! Still pinching myself about an afternoon as aeronauts flying over Vilnius and the Lithuanian countryside in a hot air balloon, like Lee Scoresby and Hester the hare! The trees looked like feathers and the houses like little toys. The dogs barked up at us and we even spotted a deer in the woods! 🦌 The sailing was the stillest, smoothest feeling, aside from the crash landing in a random field. “How do you steer this thing?” I mused conversationally, thousands of feet in the air. “You don’t!” 😄

Balloons Over Bagan - One of my favorite images. Getting up before dawn I found the temple scene and waited for things to develop. As the sun rose the balloons floated by in perfect formation. The image required little processing and because of the pervasive smoke from the burning of the fields all over SE Asia boosting the already warm color temperature was all that was necessary. +

You already sit a lot. The average American adolescent (12-19 years old) sits 8.2 hours a day and the average adult (over 20) in the U.S. sits 6.4 hours a day. Sitting throughout the day isn’t a bad thing especially when you need to take a load off when your tired. Sometimes it is easier to perform respiratory treatments when you are seated.
How about improving your core strength and endurance while you sit?
All postures are good postures to train your core in. Sitting in a chair in an upright posture, ribs tuck down and back subtly, pelvis slightly tilted back with a curve in your lumbar spine (lower back), and your chin tucked with your eyes on the horizon is a great seated position to train your core muscles. Remember your respiratory muscles are your core muscles and putting your spine, pelvis, ribcage, and chin in a quality position while seated, gives you an opportunity to train them through one of many posture position.
If you perform your respiratory treatments in a seated position this can help train the muscles and lungs in a similar posture. If you get dizzy while working out this is a great way to focus on core workout while reducing the fear of falling. Sometimes you need to create a base of support to train your muscles. Blowing up a balloon while seated allows you the opportunity to get core endurance work in while trying to improve your respiratory rhythm and strength.
