Rise with the sun.🌞
I remember this trip like it was yesterday. I miss it so much. I miss the mountains and the hikes and the adventures and @rcornell4 yelling at me to get get away from the ledge.😂
This trip brought me a lot of joy but also taught me one of the best lessons. A family friend convinced me to wake up really early one of the days, just to give it a try, and so I did.
"Rise with the sun" he said, "it's fun" he said. I dreaded it. I wanted to sleep but I committed to it for one day of my vacation. One day, I could forego the extra hour or two of sleep and rise with the sun.
That morning was my favorite morning of the entire vacation. We made pancakes, drank our coffee, chatted about life, pulled ourselves together, and enjoyed eachothers company long before anyone else ever awoke.
Now, I rise with the sun most days. Sometimes for work, sometimes for the gym, sometimes for yoga, sometimes just to be awake and sit in my thoughts, processing everything around me.🌄
It's a whole new world. The amount of stuff you can get done just by waking up one hour before your alarm is set to go off, is insane. Nevermind how you feel. Waking up early makes you feel productive, ready for the day, calm yet energized.
I used to wake up struggling. Rushing to get ready for my day, barely making my bed, running out the door, stressed and exhausted before I even did anything. What kind of tone does that set for the day?? Not a great one at all.
Give yourself time. Time to reflect on your thoughts, to acknowledge how you feel when you wake up and why you feel that way. Time to make your bed and clean your space so you can come home and enjoy your environment. Time to notice how beautiful the sun is as it rises and time to prepare mentally and physically for the day ahead. Give yourself time.
I challenge you to wake up one hour earlier than you usually do this week. Just one hour to start your day and see how it feels. See how you feel. Are you with me?? Comment below if so!👇
Build- Story Time.
To y'all this is just a normal Lego brick. But this piece of plastic means so much more to me. Back in 6th grade when I first moved here I was completely alone. My firat few days of school go by and I soon meet Wesley and Evan. I was still fairly new to the group, but I noticed they would bring their Lego bricks to school and play with them during class. So to fit in I begged my Dad to buy me a Lego set from the store that way I could start hanging out with the guys during class in hopes it would bring us closer. Pretty soon we were all goofing off and playing with these Legos. After that I was invited to hang out after class, during lunch, and eventually at each others houses. 10 years later we look back and laugh at the fact that we bonded over pieces of plastic. But those pieces of plastic which are used to build endless creations, literally helped me build the family I have to this day. #inktober#inktober2019#build#Lego#friend#family#memories#bonding#brick#middleschool#bellmountain
