🇬🇧 Malaysia meets Italy in this fusion dish! Just imagine swapping the most famous Italian beef sauce, Bolognese, for the most popular Malaysian one... it works 🤯 !! We had this last night @merchantslane, while exploring KL for the @urbanscapes art festival and it was a great start to our weekend in the city.

Japanese style keema curry with generous portions of minced leek and onsen egg. Famous curry cafe in takashimaya hutagoramagawa, I waited around 1 hour! But they give queue tickets so I went around takashimaya easily 😊
This keema use Japanese miso and it gives this dish depth of taste. Spicy yet have umami. Also their sweets, especially egg pudding is fabulous! I love solid type of egg pudding so much 😊
One of the food which I can only eat when I have to wake up very early in the morning because it will be sold out by noon and waiting time is about 10-20mins. This is Wee Kiang Kee Porridge from Chinatown Food Complex, cooked by some chef from what I read online. A decent bowl of good Hainanese "Jok".
So what is the difference between Cantonese and Hainanese porridge as both look, taste and have almost the identical ingredients. Answer is the cooking method. Hainanese "Jok" take longer to cook, hence the long waiting time. It is cook per order. Cantonese porridge use stock/broth to cook and it is creamy like paste. Hainanese porridge is cook with just plain rice and water, more grainy. #ivan_yongchinesefood 😋😋😋😋👍

[Nonya Bong] - The bowl of Nonya Chap Chai consists of stewed cabbage, mushroom, black fungus, vermicelli etc. What stood out for me is the garlic and soya bean flavour, that gives the staple vegetable dish its character.

Several weeks ago, I was sitting in the Michigan Law Library. For those of you who don’t know, it’s a Hogswarts-esque place w/ chandeliers, stained glass windows, wooden chairs, dusty books—the whole 9 yards. Half the place is restricted to law students while the other 1/2 is open to us mere undergrad plebs. Minus the times that they decide to do construction during the middle of a weekday, it’s so quiet you can hear a pin drop. So anyway, I’m sitting here, doing my work—looking at people’s laptop stickers & making far-fetched assumptions about their character—when I see a middle-aged man come up & tap a girl on the shoulder across from me. At first I think it’s her dad, but from the bewildered look on her face, I quickly conclude it is most definitely not. She takes out her headphones. “What are you studying?” He asks. “Uh, chemistry” she responds. “Chemistry, ok, ok. And what year are you?” he continues. At this point, I’m staring, the guy next to me is staring, we’re aallll staring—it’s a goddamn silent library after all. “I’m Senior…?” she says. He nods his head before launching into a 45-second-long spiel on the key to college success. At the end, he delivers his final piece of groundbreaking advice: “If your professor says to memorize it…” *leans in closer & yell-whispers* “memorize it!” And just like that, the fairy god father of higher education was gone. Legend has it, a week later the girl’s chemistry professor told her to memorize Boyle’s law for the next exam and, remembering the wise old man’s words, she committed it to memory. They say she got such a high grade in the class, she was offered automatic admission to Harvard Med School. Full ride.
