First light hits the uninhabited island of Tindhólmur. A lot of drones perished when we were in the Faroe Islands which made me apprehensive about sending my own kilometres away from the takeoff point. The fact we had a flight to catch added to my anxieties but thankfully, I managed to get the photo and make the flight which meant I left this beautiful country feeling happy and content 🇫🇴
Hope you’ve all had a great weekend
Hiking the highlands earlier this summer I was surprised that for the entire 4 days I had seen no rain. This was my second time on Laugavegur trail and it felt entirely like a different world compared to what I had seen there just 3 years before. The first time around here it rained non stop and there was plenty of snow in areas I now just saw bare rocks. It made me sad. Although it was not hot like in the rest of Europe that time, the impact of climate change has been apparent here as well.
Luckily now, the rain definitely caught up.

Oh I suck at waking up early. But I did. Every day of our Dolomites workshop. We walked in the dark of sleeping mountains, in the snow, in the cold... and how magical it was when the first sunrays showed up. I just discovered my favourite part of the day and met so many positive and good people. Thank you guys for your mercilessness and for making me get up from bed. It was so worth it🌙💛 #dolomitesunesco
After driving the somewhat difficult mountain road, that is only accessible in a 4x4 vehicle, we stop at the parking lot. There, we cautiously walk to the edge of the gully to take in the stunning natural wonder from above. At that point, you realise that Háifoss waterfall is much more than just a stunning waterfall. Walking by the edge, there are a few places that provide the most exciting and photogenic view of the valley. 🌍🇮🇸
🌏 2 weeks ago @emmanicoleshaw and myself had an incredible day full of experiences we didn’t know were even possible around Bali! We went to a shark conservation site, and the turtle conservation and education center and it was amazing! The coolest thing about it was that taking part in this experience actually funds the incredible work these people are doing! 🤙🏼 we found this experience through @tinggly who are based in Lithuania, but are also up to some really incredible stuff around the island 💙
🦈 The shark conservation site is run by a man named Wayan - and he is doing his best to keep the white tip reed life sharks alive in an unfortunate marketplace currently running throughout Asia. As it is now, Indonesia is the biggest exporter of sharks, typically to China, where the white tips of the shark fin are considered to have some sort of magical power I guess? 🔮 that is obviously not the case, but since there is a market for it, many people take advantage of the lucrative possibilities from selling the sharks for the fins. Since the white tip doesn’t grow much in size throughout the life of the shark, and the younger sharks are the obvious easier targets, they are typically caught at younger ages and killed/sold, putting the species in great danger around the world 😞
Wayan’s operation runs by purchasing the sharks from the fisherman at market value, and then keeping them at a somewhat secret natural site off the shore of southern Bali, where they are fed and grow healthy and capable of faring in deeper waters, before being released back into the open ocean. What these guys are doing is incredible, and the sharks are unbelievably beautiful and quite curious too! It was an unbelievable experience and I recommend it to everyone visiting Bali!😍
We also visited the turtle conservation site and adopted a baby turtle (all proceeds go toward the health care and protection of injured and ill turtles found around Bali, and also fighting poachers of another unfortunate marketplace)! 🙏🏼 we got to release are little adopted turtle into the ocean and see him set off into a big blue world 😍

NEW PHOTO WORKSHOP 2020!! As you might have read in my previous post this morning, I will be offering a new photo workshop on the Faroe Islands in February 2020. If you are a regular Instagram user you might have seen this classic Faroes view a few times but A) I promise it is much nicer to see it in person and B) we will visit many spots that will be new to you during our workshop week. If you are interested in joining, send me a DM with your email address and I‘ll send you all infos next week.
