For Lee Anne
A bird that l was so pleased to see in Colombia and in its natural environment and not an over saturated photo!
The magnificent Guianan Cock-of-the-rock and unlike its famous brother it displays by itself so that you only come across single individuals and this was taken at 1/30th of a second at ISO 1600
Many thanks to my guides as l would not have seen this species without them
While the male Northern Cardinal is unmistakable, these two are sometimes confused with one another. They were nice enough to pose side-by-side for a comparison.
On the left is a Pyrrhuloxia and on the right is a female Northern Cardinal. A quick look at the bill is the best way to tell if you are unsure. The Pyrrhuloxia has a yellow bill and the cardinal has a red bill.
Maybe not as colorful as the birds from Curaçao that I posted so far, but they are adorable little characters. Every morning two of them are side by side on the breakfast table looking for crumbs, raising their little crests when they hit the jackpot.
