I began to trust the world again, not to give me what I wanted, for I saw that it could not be trusted to do that, but to give unforeseen goods and pleasures that I had not thought to want.

Another one of the regional bucket list adventures completed this weekend. Nice to get back to Virginia where the American journey began almost nine years ago. 🚵♂️
Grassy Creek Falls. A really nice falls, and a really short and easy hike. Taken back in May when the place was still officially open. This waterfall looks best with a good flow. Multi tiered with cascadeds and falls even behind me here.

I set out on Haywood gap trail just off mile marker 426.5 on the blueridge parkway. I knew by all the reading it was a tough hike but nothing prepared me for what I could describe as a tropical-like atmosphere that existed just a short walk into the trail. It decended for over a mile and revealed beautiful cascades covered in lush green moss on haywood gap stream. I spent so long photographing these the hours just slipped away. I didn't get all the way to Buckeye falls but I will return hopefully very soon. Its not an easy hike and the trail back up is a steep uphill ascent. 💚💚 @ray.kelly11@__laurenkelly__
