Creme de Menthe (French for mint cream) is a sweet, mint-flavored #alcoholicbeverage . 🌿 Its flavor primarily derives from Corsican mint or dried peppermint.
The traditional formula steeps dried peppermint or Corsican mint leaves in grain alcohol for several weeks, followed by filtration and addition of sugar.
The origin of Creme de menthe is attributed to pharmacist Emile Giffard, while researching the digestive effects of mint.
Creme de Menthe is available commercially in a colorless version and a green version.
September 15th is National Creme de Menthe Day.
Creme de menthe is traditionally served in a small tube shaped glass. 🍸
Creme de menthe is an ingredient in several #cocktails , such as the Grasshopper and the Stinger. 🦗 🦂
Creme de menthe is considered a traditional final #alcoholicdrink among mobsters before going off to serve time in jail. 🍾 🍰 💐
Hey folks! How are you? I hope you’re well and that your summers have been splendid. It’s been a while. I’ve been on a bit of an hiatus because of stuff and things, but I’m really excited to get back to shaking (and occasionally stirring).
We’re having an Indian summer here in Stockholm. It’s still nice and warm and the sun is shining, even though we’re half way through September. This simple, yet refreshing, GT riff seemed perfect for a Sunday in front of the football. Have a good one, see you again soon!

93pts | 🍇🍇🍇🍇| ~$20 | Outstanding value Pet Nat, albeit 500ml | Notes below
Fantastic find, thanks @moreishwines .. Absolute steal and super fun fizzy Chenin Blanc that’s barrel fermented showing a touch of funk and style, made for a glorious summer ahead.
Notes of green apple, lemon pie, toasty honey fragments with acidity and bubbles that leave pins & needle like sensation on the front palate. It’s incredibly fresh but with settled fruits that show length and complexity, citrus is a frail secondary character.
Whilst 500ml maybe be perplexing, it’s ideal for a mid week flutter with chicken, fish or pastas.
~$20 - it’s a no brainer & worth trying this low profile varietal (in Aus) from a terrific WA producer @expresswinemakers
@wethemagicians and @viber8festival relished together in bringing the most cosmic eventful evening on 7th and 8th September, receiving a splendor amount of love and support from the spectators. The evening couldn't have been more fun and memorable for everyone connected to the festival.

Creme de Violette has been giving my drinks all sorts of colors! First blue, then green now almost burgundy!
More seriously, I have been trying a few different recipes from @punch_drink with this liqueur. With a super floral profile, it is not super easy to tame and have it appeal to everyone. So far, it seems gin to be the number one spirit that pairs well, and I also had some success with mezcal.
Here is another one from Punch Drink, which has been my go-to source for online recipes.
The Sun Prairie - by Tom Johnson
1 ounce gin
1 ounce Cocchi Rosa
1 ounce Dolin Blanc vermouth
1/4 ounce Crème de Violette
1 ounce cava, to top
I ended up using rose instead of cava. Otherwise, the drink may have been more purple. A great sipper!
