The Tulum ruins are known worldwide for their stunning cliffside views of the Caribbean Sea.
As beautiful as the Tulum ruins are, the site is becoming increasingly popular and overly commercialised so whilst it's 100% worth a go, try and do it in off season or at the start of high season like we did. I can only imagine how busy this place gets!
Also I got told off jumping over a fence to take a picture, lol.
We caught a train from Bar and proceeded on an epic 12 hour journey across the Balkans into Serbia. 2 out of 3 of the toilets on the train broke down but that didn't stop us from enjoying the views (the wine and beer helped). We met some friends out in Belgrade so rented an air bnb all to ourselves. We also were lucky that we had arrived during the famous Belgrade beer festival meaning that every night we got to go to the funfair and drink more than the local pilsner.
The only downside about meeting friends you've not seen in months is that you spend so much time eating, drinking and catching up that you don't actually get much sightseeing done. Still there were enough boat bars and restaurants to keep us happily entertained for 3 days.
The boat bars line up along the river and you can spend whole evenings bar hopping along them. We were a bit too preoccupied with the beer festival to see too many and I also had a rather traumatic experience being chased off one by 2 (actually rather friendly) dogs.
1 - on a boat to an island in the middle of the city
2 - Reliving my teens by drinking Smirnoff Ice in a field
3 - 5 Views from our journey. Some of the bridges we went over were truly spectacular
6 - Street Art
7 - Beer Festivals in Belgrade incorporate funfair and proper live music. Much more like a small music festival really
8 - The ribs I had out here were to die for
9 - Emma was very happy to be reunited with her friend and to have someone to moan about me to again
10 - Making friends with the locals. The gesture I'm making with my hand means something in Serbian. However I was very drunk and have since forgot.
I'd been told that we might expect some hostility from the locals in Belgrade and maybe even a smidge of racism. I'm pleased to report that everyone was very friendly and we had a great time.
Hi fellow creators. I'm Abhishek and I'm a sucker for good photos. I create content on my smartphone and travel photography is my escape from reality. Stay with me as I embark towards new adventures and present you with another set of good photos.
On a whim, we decided to go to Cahal Pech (City of Ticks). I am so glad we did! We were not dissatisfied at all. Although not as grand as other ruins, Cahal Pech is a quiet and lovely place where you can enjoy archaeology.
Oh yes, I’ve set foot on my 6th continent: Africa 🌍 After a lay-over of almost a day in Paris (because of the French wanting to strike all the time), we’ve arrived in Tunis, Tunisia 🇹🇳 Many more places to come, but already loving the vibes of this vibrant city!
