☀️What beautiful weather we are having in the UK at the moment!🌞
However, please remember to try and keep your bulldogs as cool as possible as they are prone to overheating!
Make sure your bulldog always has access to fresh water 💦, shade, and a cooling mat if possible, and decrease the amount of exertion.
‼️First signs of heat exhaustion‼️
➡️ Excessive panting.
➡️ The skin on the inside of their ears become flushed and red.
‼️This can then progress to weakness, staggering or fainting. ‼️
If your bulldog is showing signs of heat exhaustion, you need to act NOW.
➡️ Hose down your bulldog with cool (not cold!) water, or alternatively, soak a towel and place over his body. Make sure the water is making contact with his skin and doesn't simply run off his coat.
Throughly wet the belly and inside of legs.
‼️Do not‼️FORCE your bulldog to drink. His swelling airways can cause any liquid he takes in to be regurgitated and possibly aspirated into his lungs. He will drink once he has cooled down and it's safer to do so.
If your bulldog isn't showing signs of getting better - call the vet!
Stay safe everyone! ✌🏻
