I had such a fun time capturing photos for this beauty. Best of Luck to you Shelby! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.

U S ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you've been following along, you've hopefully learned a little (or a lot!) about me and more about my own story this week. I have been posting daily about the cornerstones that have led me to become the person that I am today. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You've probably noticed that I tend to share very personal and vulnerable stories. My husband thinks I am a little crazy. (Nothing surprising there) After all, this is the internet. There is always the risk of exposing oneself to ridicule, hate, and shame. There is always the risk of someone exploiting or mocking your pain. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm acutely aware of it. I reread my drafts a million times with my fingers hovering over the keys to delete. Clicking on the "Share" button everyday feels like signing away the safety net of my private thoughts. It's terrifying.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I do it anyway.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I share because I know that I am not alone. I share with the hopes that the lessons that I've learned from the pain in my own life will resonate with someone out there, and help them to feel less alone, less burdened, less forsaken. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
May is Mental Health Awareness Month here in the US, and to recognize it on its last day, I saved my most personal story. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is my hope that you will read it and be encouraged.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Little moments from a big day. Shooting at the dunes after their ceremony was never part of the plan, but we had about an hour of sunlight left and still wanted to soak up every moment of it. They were running up the dunes hand in hand, so we could reach the top with enough time. I love looking back on these in-between moments that are part of the story too. ✨
Idk what to say and how to say it, don’t know where to say it so that it’ll matter. I feel weird saying anything else because who cares? Thinking about it makes my blood boil but staying nothing feels wrong. Also feeling like I’m never educated enough to make a statement worth following. The anxious feeling I get saying something on the internet that can be pushed and pulled a million different ways.
Если честно, я даже не знаю как описать то, что сейчас у нас происходит. Вот вспомните все боевики, фильмы - апокалипсисы и немного триллеров. Вот такой примерно микс сейчас творится в реальном времени. Люди перестали вести себя как люди :(
A quick snap from yesterday 💫🖤
I know a lot is going on right now and I’m just at a loss for words. So I’m going to keep it short and say that #BlackLivesMatter , because they do. And there needs to be more people like me, who use their privilege and their platform to say so.
Check out my stories for some really amazing posts that help bring light and education to on what’s going on.

congrats GVCA class of 2020
Today is your day and I’m so proud of you all. I can’t tell you what it’s meant to be your teacher these last 5 years. The memories, laughs, tears, jokes, crazy quotes...I’ll miss you all so much. If there were one characteristic I would use to describe you all as a whole, it would be positive. Any project, song, lesson, teaching method, video, mistake - you all tackled high school positivity + enthusiasm. You looked at every challenge as an opportunity and would figure out how to conquer it. You’re a strong group individually and together + I can’t wait to see where the Lord takes you all in your lives 🧡 I can’t tell you how much I will absolutely miss teaching you everyday. Thank you for all you’ve done for me - the love, grace, encouragement you’ve given me is above and beyond what a teacher ever deserves and I don’t have words enough to tell you thank you.

Take that leap.
Failure over Fear. ⠀⠀
I’m not sure how it got started but I impulsively decide on big decisions intentionally because I know I would never do them if I thought too much about it.
Did I just admit that out loud? 😅 ⠀⠀
Failure over fear is something I recently opened my eyes to. Would you rather let fear take over your dreams and never accomplish them? Or would you rather fail a few hundred times until your great successes take over (because if you try hard enough it will happen!).
I have been through some scary and challenging times with my business.
I go out and meet complete strangers in strange places and have to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera all at the same time (I’m a good mixture of introverted and extroverted).
Not to mention if travel is involved and all the other back end stuff (invoices, emails, follow ups, meetings, etc). I have the scary moments of photographing someone’s wedding day and I could potentially do something totally wrong.
Those are some of the thoughts that could have stopped me from starting this business and I would have 10000% regretted it. ⠀⠀
So here I am coming at you to say don’t let the fear take over. Go out and make your dreams happen. Take a leap of faith.
Find what brings you joy and go after something scary 🧡 #feliciaaprilphotography
